Listmembers--
I guess I didn't explain things earlier. When you are submitting a posting for
"roll call" or otherwise letting people know who you are researching you need to
do it in such a way that gives you some results.
By just making a post in which the subject line says--
SMITH, PHILLIPS, JONES
Then place nothing in the body of the email..that accomplishes NOTHING.
There are so very many persons in the county that could fit that bill.
Your posting should include "something" in the body of the email detailing the
person/family...what you might know of them...time frame you are looking at...any names of
children, spouses, parents...Where they were last known to reside or any census
records...you know SOMETHING.
Other researchers will need something to go on that they can look in their databases to
see if they have anything to connect.
As cruel as it might sound---
I am concerned if I locate my ancestors. If you don't then that would be you suffering
and not me.
I am saying this to help you. I can positively state that in receiving an email that has
only the surnames in the subject line and no futher data..I am not even going to look in
my database.
I have just too many people to search for a "Smith" or a "Roberts" .
Which Smith? when were they born? should I look in the early 1800's or the middle
1920's?
If you want to post 60 different emails, then so be it. It would most likely be better for
you so you can keep them separated when you get replies.
