Hi Mickie,
Saw your message to David regarding the Beam family. I have a slight
connection to a Beam family. Homer C. Beam (b. 06 Feb 1890, Shelby County
IN, d. 19 Feb. 1972, Monroe County IN) married Mary Elizabeth Bales (b.
March 1893 Brown County IN, d. 1966 Monroe County IN) on 05 Dec 1915 in
Monroe County IN. Mary Elizabeth was the sister of my grandmother, Pearl
May Bales Houston. Their parents were Samuel Francis and Lydia Clementine
Chandler Bales. I have Homer Beam's parents as Alvin T. Beam (b. Feb. 1861,
OH) and Viana Sanders (b. Jan 1868, IN); Alvin & Viana were married about
1889 and I have 8 children for them: Homer C., Mary, Alma, Willard, Vallie,
Jacob, Robert and Ollie. That's about all I know about them. As a child, I
can remember visiting Uncle Homer and Aunt Mary when they lived east of
Bloomington out near Unionville.

BioFl, I'm afraid our Beams are not connected. My father was born a Bean
and changed his name to Beam so technically he's the first Beam in my Beam
line. My Bean line came from Burke and Caldwell County North Carolina with
my great great grandfather William W. Bean migrating to Owen County around
1850. He died there in 1888 after serving in the Civil War. He and his
wife Sarah Jane Baker are buried there in River Hill Cemetery.

I wonder if the Beam Genealogy is connected to our family of Beam? My
great grandmother was a
Beam. Great Grandparents were Beam and Smock.

Randi,
How would I go about getting a copy of that photo of the 82nd and the
listing of soldiers? Charles Isom is my kin. Thanks!

David,
Here's a couple of suggestions. The editor of the newsletter is Vivian
Zollinger of Spencer. Her husband is Jack Zollinger. She probably has
something she could scan. The Owen County Public Library in Spencer has
copies of all the newsletters. They could send you a photocopy, but it
probably wouldn't be the best quaility because the newsletter is on
beige paper and photocopies don't always turn out well. I would guess
that the best copy of the photograph would be from the person who
contributed the picture to Vivian for the newsletter. That is Terry
Linthicum at fayrankin(a)juno.com. Perhaps s/he has the ability to scan
the photography or else might have a nice quality duplicate made for you
and ship it.
Good luck.
