Oh my goodness! In speaking of saving money, to be able to get a copy of a family members
birth, death and marriage cert, when each would be 25 dollars that's 75 dollars a
person! I just had to give up on my Mayflower Society because they wanted this from me for
each person and spouse for 6 gens. And some just are not to be found. 4 gens from Clay,
Owen, Spencer. But on a happy note some of you know me. My grandmother Maude White put in
Owen Co poorhouse (see early adoptions Sweet Owen) was adopted in White Co any way I had
some old teacher's ledgers from her and seems now both White Co and Fort Wayne want
it. I sent it to White Co where it came from and let them know Fort Wayne wants it. As I
was saying all that look ups will save someone a lot of money. So thank you for all your
work.Vickie Fisher Stevens

Greetings Debbie - and All the List Members who view in:
DELIGHTED to know that you are seeing the Sunshine after the storm of
your father passing.
I understand perfectly. I have had lots of experience with loved ones
dying, including mother, mother-in-law, and husband all passing here in
my home after lengthy illnesses.
Two years ago I was asked to get info on dying because I live in an area
where aged parents live, but their many children have moved out of area
and/or state. When one passed, the out-of-state children expected our
compassionate service specialist in our church to step in, organize a
group to clean the home, arrange for the funeral, feed the 125
out-of-town visitors after the service, then put on a garage sale and
sell the home. A bit beyond the compassionate service guidelines. And
so, in the past year I have given 15 lectures on Demise Desires to
groups all over the area, and have strongly recommended that they
discuss with their loved ones what they want done upon their passing,
i.e, burial, cremation, etc. - and some of the shortcuts that are little
known. Just knowing to be buried on a weekday instead of a weekend can
save you $1000. My lecture is so zany and fun. No one left feeling sad.
Most important, I have given each person a Vital Statistics Sheet,
printed on bright yellow so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle, to fill
out, so at least the information on their death certificate will be
correct. Past experience, I have had to disprove at least 25 death
certificates - because the information contained thereon is only as good
as the informant's memory.
Would be happy to email the Vital Statistics info - for you to share
with all your List Members if this is something you and they would be
interested in. Always willing to share what I have learned. SOOO
Important to plan for the future, as well as continue to dig up the past.
Onward - to a Happy Father's Day FILLED TO THE BRIM with Wonderful
Memories of Fathers and Grandfathers in our lives! Claire

Listmembers--
I would like to take a moment and let everyone just how much your well
wishes regarding my father has meant to me.
I thought that perhaps getting back to genealogy would be difficult after
loosing him-- he would be the one that I said "hey look what I found" (not
gonna go there, I will start crying)...anyway, I have utilized a research
resource pointed out by Randi Richardson regarding what is on Ancestry with
the birth and death certificates and marriage records.
I am going to make a statement that can ONLY be said in this arena as
anyone else would think I am just morose or insane....
I am having the time of my life for the past few nights going through my
FTM and searching for death certificates!! Most people would think that is
depressing but I am learning a lot...and not just about my family.
The only problem is there are SO MANY people.....
Thanks everyone for just being there....
Debbie
