Miss Margaret Ellis, 23 years old, a daughter of Will Ellis, died Thursday
of paralysis at the home of her grandfather, H. D. "Den" Ellis at
Monticello, Ind., and the body, accompanied by H. D. Ellis and daughter,
Miss Marion, was brought here Saturday for interment. Will Ellis, the
father, was at Harrodsburg, Ill., and came direct to Spencer, arriving
Saturday morning.
The deceased suffered a paralytic stroke in Oklahoma City Okla., in December
last and was cared for in a hospital. In the last week she failed rapidly
and expressed a wish to be taken to her grandfather's home, and the nurse
took her there. They arrived at Monticello on Tuesday of last week, and her
death followed a few days later. Her mother died about 11 years ago.
Brief funeral services conducted by Rev. Gray of the Presbyterian Church
were held at the graveside Saturday afternoon.
The grandfather and his daughter left immediately after the interment for
the home of his cousin, Charles R. Ellis, in Clay Township, to pay the
family a visit, returning home Sunday.
