My John Long always used his middle intial G. I don't know what name it was
for. I have only a very small bit of information about him. His father was
Benjamin. He had a daughter named Mary who was married to George
Washington Marts/Mortz. That is the full extent of my knowledge about him. Well, he
was born in Pennsylvania if that counts!
There are so many folks working on the Dunn line in Clay and Owen County!
If you could all compare research, you might have an answer! I used to
Volunteer at the Clay County Genealogical Society, but I now living in the
Atlanta area full time and I am unable to even go do my own searches now!!! I
hate it! I loved working with the people I met while working at the Library
in Center Point.

Do you know if your John Long is any relation to Martha Long, wife of
James Dunn who came over from Ireland c. 1760?
They settled in Virgiinia first and then Kentucky. Their son Samuel Dunn
married Eleanor Brewster and after Samuel's death, Eleanor and some of the
grown kids moved to Indiana. Eleanor and Samuel's son, John Dunn, was very
instrumental what became Owen County. He was a judge there and their son,
John R. K. Dunn (my GG Grandfather) was the first white child born in Owen
County.
