I want to thank all of you who responded to my request a few weeks ago
for information concerning the book "Owen County Cousins" by Rosemary
Faulk Lovell. Thanks to all of you good people, I now have traced my
husband's great-grandmother, who was listed as Rebecca E FALK in her
obituary, back to her Palatine ancestor Andreas VOLCK. Andreas Volck
fled the Palatinate with his family to England and was among the first
Palatines sent to America by Queen Anne. They settled in New York in
1709, founding the settlement of Newburgh, New York. From there they
went to Pennsylvania where they joined the Moravian Church. Later
generations migrated to North Carolina, helping to form new churches.
Our branch of the family then went to Owen County, Indiana, in the
1820's. If this path of migration sounds familiar, you may want to
visit the following web sites:

Other Owen County families are also mentioned at these web sites.
My present quest is for information on the CATON family. Rebecca E FULK
married Joshua Pocock CATON and their first 3 children were born in Owen
County, Indiana. The family then migrated to Nebraska sometime in the
1880's. Joshua was the son of Charles CATON (who was born 18 Feb 1806
and died 21 Jul 1899) and Eliza RINGER (born 1 Aug 1810, died 19 Mar
1899). Charles, Eliza, Joshua, and Rebecca are all buried in Thayer
County, Nebraska. One source says Joshua was born in Ohio and one says
Indiana. This is all I know on this family.
However, I do have information on Percy Hall CATON (a known relative,
but not sure how) who was born in Nebraska and lived in Thayer County
most of his life. He was the son of Daniel CATON and Emma LIPTON, both
of whom were born in Ohio. By the age of one, Percy Caton was living
with, and listed as the nephew of Silas BATES. He was still living with
the Silas Bates family at age 16. If anyone has any information on any
of these families, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you.
