If there was such a place how could someone get info from the
records they kept or would it be possible? Does the place
still exist but under a different name? Any info would be very much
appreciated.

Bessie - there was and is a county poor farm. It still stands in
Section 10 of Clay Township and there is an associated cemetery.
That is on State Road 43 about a mile south of Hardscrabble Road
and about three miles south of 43's origin on State Road 46 east
out of Spencer. I was able to get records on a relative who
was assigned there from her estate papers but I think there are
other records available. Roger Peterson should be able to tell
you more about any records - mailto:peterson@ccrtc.com .
On another subject - do you know how to get in touch with people
who have strong access to Turley family records? I have tried to
find out the children of Richard Hazel and Monica Turley of Fairfax
County (or nearby) Virginia. Richard died around 1770 leaving Monica
with sufficient debts to entirely confiscate her estate. I have never
found their children although I think Caleb Hazel may have been one of
them. Monica was listed in her father's will but none of her children
were mentioned. If you have any idea on how to proceed I would like
to know. Thanks in advance.
