In a publication by Owen County Preservations, 1994, the location of the Ben
Mugg house is marked. I find nothing about a McDade or Washburn property.

Subject: Taylor Twsp folks, ca 1860
I was interested to read in the recent booklet, "It Came to
Pass"
on Quincy, Taylor Twsp, that Capt. Phillip MCDADE is mentioned (pg 7) as
living "On the hill west of the Ben MUGG property...". This later became
the home of William WASHBURN. Can anyone locate this residence?
Capt MCDADE married Lucy JONES, the favorite sister of my
GGGrandfather, Silas W.R. JONES. Phillip fought in the Mexican War and
was a great organizer of the 59th regiment in Owen County during the
Civil War . He was listed as "merchant" in the 1860 census of Taylor
Twsp, Owen County and was later a minister in Howard County, IN where he
is buried with several of his JONES' brothers-in-law. He was written up
in the History of Howard County as a rather energetic, loving, and
striking figure. He and Lucy had no children but rather ministered to
the needs of therir pioneer neighbors. Great folks.
I hope to be able to share info on these Owen Countians with anyone
who is interested..
