Would anyone happen to anything about an african american

by the surname of WALDEN? I am particularly interested in finding out
who were the parents of Henry Walden who was born abt. 1800 in North
Carolina. Henry and his wife Lucretia "Lucy" E. (Chavis) Walden moved
to Indiana somewhere between 1840 to 1844. They had numerous children,
most being born in Tennessee, but two being born in Indiana. If anyone
has any other information about this family, could you please let me
know?
Welcome to the list Dione. I wanted to reply to your mailing because your
family seem to have closely followed the path taken by my Weatherly family.
While I don't recall any Waldens in my line - I could easily have
overlooked them.
As near as I can place the dates - James Andrew Weatherly (JAW) with spouse
Charity Roark left ?Stokes? County NC sometime after 1821 for Tennessee.
Sometime after that and before 1840 they moved to Indiana - perhaps as
early as 1830, settling eventually in Owen County. Following the death of
JAW in 1852 Charity and most (if not all) of the children moved on to Iowa.
If any of that sounds similar to your family history you might want to take
a look at my Weatherly page(s) at the site listed in my signature.
While my immediate line is not African American I know that there is
another line of Weatherly that has that heritage. Someday I would like to
find out where that line originated - - - *sigh* but when that day will be
I have no idea. I may someday find someone who does have a link for me.
Anyway - good luck and welcome here.
Be well and at peace!
