A recent posting on GenForum gives the information about bounty land warrant showing the
military information about Samuel SCOTT in the War of 1812 from VA. He fought in Thomas
Moore's Co. 5th Regiment Virginia Military. Bounty land file number is WT40-623. The
warrant states that Samuel died 23 April 1855. It also states his wife died the yar
before. The warrant was filed by Samuel's son John T. M. Scott. The informant also
mentions that Pleasant W. Scott is buried in Coyville Cemetery, Coyville, KS. Headstone
reads "Pleasant W. Scott, died March 2, 1898, age 64 years, 8 months, 27 days."
This is probably Pleasant who is the son of aforementioned Samuel SCOTT & wife Milly
FOSTER.
The informant is researching the "other" line of SCOTTs in Owen Co. IN, that
is, the family who came from OHIO.
Anyone interested in either of these families, please contact me personally.
