I am not researching the Edwards family but I do have a little side data
that you might find interesting.
Mornen, or Mourning, Edwards married Robert E. Crockett, 11 March 1849 in
Greene Co., IN. The marriage record has her listed as Mrs. Mourning Edwards.
In 1850 they were living in Beech Creek T., Greene Co. with his four children
by his first wife, Margaret Thorne, whom he married 24 Nov 1831. His
children were: Camden Pitt Crockett, b. 4 Aug 1833; Oliver B. b. 1835; Virgil, b.
1838 and Minerva Jane, b. 1845. Mornen's son, Anderson Edwards, was also
living with them. The census gave his age as 15.
Mornen is buried in the Edward Cemetery, Beech Creek T., Greene Co. Her
tombstone reads Mornen Edwards Crockett, 7 Apr 1807-3 Apr 1896.
Robert Crockett is a brother of my ggg grandfather, David Crockett who moved
to Owen Co. in 1822 from Anderson Co. TN with their widowed mother and her
12 children. DNA tests show they are first cousins of Davy Crockett of Alamo
fame.
Robert Crockett died before 1860 and my ancestor died in 1855, Owen Co.
Does anyone know where they are buried?
