Hi Debbie,
I have a LeMasters in my Rickabaugh lineage (In>Ia, both families). They
married in Mills County, Iowa. You might want to check in that area. Also,
Baldwins are in Harrison County, Iowa. I also found Baldwins in Cooper, St.
Clair, and St Louis Counties, Mo. As far as where did they all go ( I wish
I knew). I have found quite a few that migrated all the way to Idaho,
Colorado, Montana, and Wyoming directly from Indiana (my Beaman lineage).
One other thought. One of my elusive cousins (everyone said he died before
age 20), I found him back where the family originated. No one thought to
look where the family originally came from before migrating to Indiana. It
had been 50 years but he went home. Just a thought. Good luck on your
search.

Subject: [INOWEN] Disappearances--CHAMBERS
OBJECTIVE:
Who were the parents of Arlitta Chambers?
Was she Arlitta "CHAMBERS" or was she adopted/raised by someone else?
Arlitta Chambers b. December 31, 1815 d. November 18, 1894 as stated on
her
tombstone.
In the 1880 census of Owen county she is found residing in Harrison
township
of Owen county, she states that she was born in Ohio and that both
her
parents were born in Ohio.
Arlitta married James Truax(s/o Wm Truax & Ailcy Combs)on April 1, 1841 in
Owen county, IN.
However, no known routes seem to have found the parents of Arlitta.
Although
there are several others of the Chambers names in the county, she
appears
not to be connected to any of them.
Various references have been made questioning the legitimacy of Arlitta
but
none of the clues have led to any answers.
According to one of the many different research sites, the item below is
entered:
Born
December 31, 1815 and married to james Truax. According to an aunt of
the submitter, Arletta was born a Le Masters and left to be raised by
the Chambers sisters (??) and took their name.
However, in contacting the "submitter" in Arizona; her email is returned
and
I can find no other references.
The only Lemasters I find in Owen county is in the 1830 Owen county
census;
one Abraham Lemasters residing next door to William Truax.
Abraham is said to have died "many years ago" in the book Owen county
1884.
I do find it odd that this Lemasters name appears mentioned as
Arletta's
birth name and the only Lemasters in the county resides next door to
William
Truax, who happens to be the father of the man that Arlitta later
marries.
I have corresponded with a researcher of the Lemasters line with no
results.
In corresponding with a researcher of the Chambers lineage I find the
only
REMOTE possibility is:
One of the decendants of the line of Alexander Chambers--
John Chambers b. about 1778 in NC. He married Mary DEEM
Children of John and Mary were:
William H. b. 1798 Ohio m. Mary Ann Perry
Alexander b. 10-15-1807 Scott, KY m. Mary Pack
James b. about 1810 in Washington co. Ohio m. Cassandra Pack
John b. about 1812 Ohio m. Esther Pack
?? Chambers b. 1815, Ohio
?? Chambers b. 1818, Ohio
?? Chambers b. 1822, Bartholomew co. IN
?? Chambers b. 1824, Bartholomew co. IN
Elizabeth Chambers b. about 1828, Ohio
William Chambers b. about 1829, Ohio
Louisa J. Chambers b. about 1830, Ohio
Joseph Chambers b. about 1933, Nineveh twp, Bartholomew co. IN
Of all the Chambers I looked at this is the only family from Ohio.
I wonder if this is the right line or not.
Does anyone have any information on the Lemasters line or the Chambers
line??
