Rowan County, North Carolina was a magnet for early pioneers from several
countries because of its rich land and the Yadkin River. I have English
ancestors, the Deadmans. from Rowan County and Ephraim Goss, of German
descent, was from Rowan County and is the founder of Gosport, the town I
live in here in Owen County, Indiana.
So you could find ancestors from England, Germany and other countries who
settled in Rowan County, North Carolina at one time during their migrations
into the New World. Many of them started out in New England, the children
of immigrants or immigrants themselves, before coming to North and South
Carolina, Virginia, and other southern states and from there, around the
beginning of the 19th century, they came on up into the Mid West and
finally, around the 1880s, some of their children and grandchildren headed
West.
