I would like to compare "VAUGHN" notes. I've worked for years trying to
find my John Vaughn's (b. October 08, 1825, wife- Celia Murphy) parents. I
haven't had any luck, I only have some ideas. I've always thought that John
Vaughn b.1825 and Joseph Vaughn b.1827 (wife-Nancy Murphy) were brothers
that married sisters---
My Thomas Murphy line originally came from Washington/Marion county
Kentucky. Murphys and Vaughns from that area inter-married a lot. Making
it a possibility that John Vaughn was from the Washington/Marion county
Kentucky Vaughns. I have never seen my John Vaughn listed as a son of Luke
and Rebecca Edwards Vaughn or a James Vaughn, that's why I wondered where
that info came from and possibility of proof behind it. Do you know where
the tree came from?
Luke and Rebecca Edwards Vaughn were from Washington/Marion county
Kentucky--
John Vaughn (b.Oct. 08, 1825, wife- Celia Murphy) was suppose to have died
Aug.18, 1897 Owen Co, IN-- but I could find no death record or obit, this
death date came from his Vaughn descendants/kin that were still living in
Greene co, IN-- they also had that John was from Bowling Green, KY. When we
talked, no one could ever verify where the date and place came from, they
assumed it had been in someone's bible!
Oddly enough-- Joseph Vaughn (w-Nancy Murphy) died Sept 29, 1897 Owen Co,
IN--- less then a month after John Vaughn and same Owen county---
I have Joseph Vaughn's pension papers and death cert-- the death cert lists
what might be either Jas. or Jos. Vaughn as father!!!
The pension information and prior marriages of Joseph Vaughn, lead me to the
Vaughns of Garrard Co, KY. Kathy Bargerhuff

I wrote that Luke Vaughan came to Owen Co., IN (considered one of the
earliest settlers there) and that he had a son John, who we have no
information
about. The fact that John VAUGHAN was born abt 1825 certainly made me
hopeful.
I was sent a family tree that showed John Vaughan b 1825 as a son of
James,
however, there were no sources. There was a James VAUGHAN that may be
considered, but again, what are the sources?
I would like to compare information re these VAUGHAN's to see if there
could
be a relationship between these early families.
Thank you.
