Hi Jacque: Thanks for answering. Thei nfo you found in The Meriwether Society was
submitted by me. I was contacted by a gg- grandson of Elizabeth Meriwether about a
year ago. He wanted to know what info I had on the sisters. Said he knew from family
that Elizabeth died when about one hundred years old,but didn't know where she was
buried or exact date. I told him about the time in 1962, when my father-in-law told
about meeting Lillie uptown in Bloomington. I still remember how excited my
father-in-law was. He hadn,'t seen his cousins since they were young. I remember
him saying he asked her about other relatives, and he said she said she didn't know
anything of other relatives , as she hadn't heard from anyone for years. My father
-in-law 's sister told me later that she heard Lilliehad lived to be one hundred
& five years old. I feel sure that both sisters died near Monroe Co or
possibly Morgan Co. Maybe in Beanblossom. Maybe you can find where some of their
children are buried. I would think that the parents might be buried in same cem as
their children. I noticed Mabel oldest child of Elizabeth died 1964. Where is she
buried?
Otto and Harley Payton are buried in the Gosport cem in Monroe Co. Perhaps Lillie
Meriwether Payton is buried there. My husband's grandmother Catherine Fulk Meriwether
is
buried there She is wife of Beason Overstreet Meriwether.
I feel there must be an obituary notice in the newspapers
somewhere , because of lillie being one hundred and five years when she died. My
husband's aunt lived in Bloomington, and I'm wondering if that is how she knew
that her cousin was dead. I figure Lillie might have died about 1967 or 1968.
Anything you can find will be welcome. I don't have any death date or place for
Thomas Duncan, husband of Elizabeth (Lide) Meriwether. Believe his father
might be John.Thank you. Joan H. Meriwether no.hackle
P.S. So, all I need actually is the dates whenElizabeth and Lille died and the place
they are buried.
