Vern E. Summerlot, 81, resident of Spencer, died Tuesday, January 25,
2000 at his residence.
Born June 21, 1928 (this must be an error) in Owen County , he was
the son of Harry and Ada(Harris) Summerlot.
He was a member of the Spencer Nazarene church, and worked as a driver
for Lester Lewis Trucking.
He served in the Army during World War 2 and was a member of the VFW.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Nila and James Reineke
of Solsberry; two sisters, Mae Bault and Wilma Nickless, both of
Spencer, and one brother Glen Summerlot of Avon.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Madge Ford Summerlot, and
second wife Marie Wetzel Kinney Summerlot; two sisters, Margaret
Cooper and Ona Morley, and six brothers David, James, Lewis, Herb,
Wayne and Carl Summerlot.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 29, 2000
at the West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer. Elder Tommy
Freeman will officiate.
Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.
Military graveside rites will be performed by the Spencer American
Legion and VFW.
Interment will be at Beech Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the OwenCount unit of the
American Cancer Society.
