Hello,
My GG-Grandparents, William S Norris (b. July 18, 1833; d. June 3, 1895)
and his wife Charity Reed Norris (b. February 25, 1835; d. November 7,
1906), are buried in the cemetery just NE of the school in Patricksburg. My
information has come from the gravestone and the following obituary
(publication unknown, the article belonged to my grandmother):
"On Nov. 7, 1906. at 9 p.m., at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Samuel
Chambers, near Patricksburg, Ind., Charity Norris was called from time to
eternity. She had been a great sufferer for a number of years with throat
and lung trouble, complicated with heart trouble. About two years before
her death, when she was very low from affliction, she stated in the presence
of the writer that she was trying to be perfectly resigned, as no doubt she
was at all times. She was the third and youngest daughter of William and
Catharine (Reed) Norris, born in Coshocton county, Ohio, near Bakersville,
Feb. 25, 1836. She was married to William S. Norris, March 27, 1855. To
this union were born ten children, George W., Mary E. Moseman, Catharine A.
Beatty, Laura E. Dayhuff, Eva S. Chambers and Samuel W., living. Four
children preceding the parents in death were: John, Thomas, Martha, and
William, all dying in infancy. She, with her husband, migrated from Ohio to
Owen county, Indiana in the fall of 1862. Her husband departed this life
June 3,1895. She was left without a mother when she was three years of age,
her father having died in the summer of 1874. She leaves one aged sister
and a half brother in Ohio, three brothers and one sister having preceded
her in death. She joined the M.E. church when she was thirteen years of
age. On coming to Indiana she placed her membership at Patricksburg, where
has always endeavored to live the life of a true christain, devoted mother
and companion. Funeral services were conducted at Patricksburg by Rev.
Krieble, of the U.B. church, and Rev Hargrave, of the M.E. church, Nov. 9,
1906."
If this article does not contain a typo, then the couple, prior to marriage,
shared the same last name. This could cause some confusion. I'm not sure
of the proximity of Coshocton to Tuscarawas Co.
I haven't really scratched the surface on this line yet. Hope this may
provide some sort of help.
Good Luck,
Brad Crabb

My gg grandmother was Sarah Ann Norris Woods b. January 13, 1845 New
Comerstown, Tuscarawas Co, Ohio. Sarah's parents were - Samuel Norris 1825
OH and Keziah Duling 1824 OH . I found Samuel & Keziah Duling Norris
listed
on the 1850 Tuscarawas Co, Ohio census. They then moved to Owen
county,
Indiana between 1850-1860, as I found them on the 1860 Owen county,
Indiana
census. Samuel Norris' parents are unknown. Keziah Duling
Norris is the

Duling families in Owen county and will gladly share my info. I found
other
Norris families on the 1860 Owen county census, but I'm not sure
how they
are related to my Samuel Norris and Keziah Duling. Can anyone connect to
these Norris families on the 1860 Owen Co census or add information?

"Sarah Ann (Norris) Wood" OBITUARY of Owen Co, 14 Oct 1922
Sarah Ann (Norris) Wood was born in Newcomerstown, Ohio, January 13,
1845
and departed this life October 2nd, 1822, aged 77 years, 8 months and
19
days.
She united with the M. E. Church of this place under the pastorage of
Rev.
Merideth at the age of eleven years. She spent the able years of her
life
working in the church. Although interested in the church and its
different
organizations of the late years, she was kept away on account of
poor
health.
She was united in marriage to Jas. Wood on February 7, 1862 and to this
union seven children were born, four whom, with the father, preceded her
in
death.
She hath lived her allotted three score and ten years and has witnessed
the perils and distress of three wars, Civil, Spanish and World Wars. She
helped to rear four families of children; her doors have been opened to
all
and her ministering to the sick has been unequaled.
She was cheerful and hopeful, looking ever at the brightest side of
life's
surroundings. Even in the darkest hours, when her body was racked
with
pain, there was a cheerfulness so that there seemed to be "sunshine in her
soul," that could speak of death as "becoming well."
She leaves to mourn their loss one brother, three children, thirty
grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren and one great great
grandchild.
" I cannot say, I will not say,
that she is dead - - she is just away!
With a cheery smile, and a wave of the hand,
She has wandered into an unknown land.
Think of her faring on, as dear
In the love of There as the love of here."
