Listmembers:
THE FOLLOWING ITEMS ARE BEING OUTLINED TO PROTECT EVERYONE ON THE LIST. IT IS
ALSO FOR THE BENEFIT OF SOME OF OUR NEW SUBSCRIBERS. THEY MAY SOUND HARSH,
BUT THEY ARE FOR OUR OWN GOOD. IF ANY ONE OF US GET THIS VIRUS AND MAILS TO
THE LIST, IT COULD WELL GO THROUGH EVERYONE ON THE LIST'S SYSTEM.
In view of the recent outbreak and information regarding viruses, there are a
couple of things I would like to mention that should be read and clearly
understood by everyone.
1.FIRST and FOREMOST--I don't want this list turned into a Virus Warning
Forum.
We all know it is out there. Please, don't make any postings to the list
informing us of it.
2. SECOND--As I receive a great deal of mail from all of you, and the
majority of it contains an attachment of some type, I would like to request
that you:
a)Use a Subject Line
Any email I recieve without a subject line that contains an attachment will
be deleted UNREAD.
b) It would be greatly appreciated if somewhere in the body of the email that
you send with an attachment, that you also mention that there is an
attachment.
I do still want to receive the items for the website, but I am trying to safe
guard it for everyone as much as possible.
I do have virus protection, but many times these new ones do slip through.
THIRD--This is important--If an email is received from anyone on the list and
it contains the attachment that is carrying a virus (whether knowingly or not)
YOU WILL BE UNSUBSCRIBED until you are clean. Please don't write me in shock,
this is the notification of what will happen.
FOURTH--DO NOT SEND A MESSAGE TO THE LIST STATING "I HAVE A VIRUS, DON'T OPEN
MY MAIL".
I am sorry, but that is just so stupid--almost like coughing in someone's
face as you tell them you have a highly contagious disease.
FIFTH-- If you should recieve an email privately from someone on this list
and you can see prior to opening it that it contains a virus attachment...DO
NOT OPEN IT. Please contact me privately so I can unsubscribe them.
There is no reason that we cannot continue to research just as always if we
are just careful not to open mail with unrecognized or unexpected attachments.
The virus is not going to be contained in an email WITHOUT an attachment.
GOOD RULE OF THUMB: If you are in question about an email/attachment--don't
open it. Email the sender separately and inquire if they did indeed send you
an attachment.
Don't just go by the name of the attachment, many times these viruses have
multiple names that they run under.
