You could also go to the US Geological Survey site
(
_http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnispublic/_ (
http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnispublic/) )
and do a
search in Owen county for just populated places. In my experience, this returns
not only current towns, but some of the old towns that are now gone or just
crossroads. You can also search for cemeteries, etc to find them, but not all
cemeteries are necessarily listed. You can also print maps with the location of
what you are looking for "starred".
While doing a genealogy hunt in Illinois recently, the coordinates provided
for a cemetery led me to the middle of a sorghum field half a mile off the
road over some hills. It was the only way we would have found it.
