Karen
You see, that puts it in a different perspective now.
Your second posting made it sound as if you were looking for men with the
FIRST name of Moses, not the surname.
Now, that we know that you are looking for the SURNAME of Moses, maybe
someone can better assist you in your search.
Just a few items to perhaps help you in your search.
Who were the parents of these men?
It is unclear but I am assuming you are saying that Simon Moses was BORN in
1805 and not in the county at that time as the county wasn't formed till
1820. Or perhaps, this Simon Moses died in 1805- it is just not clear.
As far as James Moses is concerned, you will most likely need to contact the
board of health for death records as you will not find many "vital records"
readily available otherwise after about 1930.
Please, to save yourself the trouble do not just "assume" that all 46 of
these "Moses" are connected. There could be several different family
lineages with the surname Moses, that are not connected.
Within my own family history, there are 3 separate and distinct lineages of
the CARTER surname, they do not connect to each other.
There are at least 4 different JONES lineages, they do not connect to each
other.
Your best bet is to find the men in the various families and record their
children and in that way you will find out which ones tie together.
You might check the website
www.sweetowen.net for additional information
regarding the surname. In searching the marriage records for the years of
1850-1920 I find only these two--
Moses Isabelle Jacob A Speace Mar 25 1866 29 234
Moses Mary J Frederic Collenbaugh Mar 22 1857 28 212
Not many researchers will be able to help you without some type of
definition of just which family you are looking for.
If I told everyone:
"I am looking for a Jones from the years of 1805-1965, I wouldn't expect
much help, I also from a researcher's viewpoint know exactly where to start
to help you.
Start with the website above, look through all the section such as the
burials, etc and you might find something further there.

Do you have any idea just how many "Moses" that could entail?
Could you try to refine it a little; in that way, someone might be able to
assist you. Perhaps a wife's name or a child's name??
Most of us research the surname of a family as they connect. All the Moses
would not connect together, I wouldn't think.
