Hello,
I found Charlotte (spelled Sharlot) in the 1850 Owen Co. Census -
Jefferson Twp., August 23, 1850
Household # 486 486
HEATON Lorenzo D. 28 M farmer $750 Ind
Sharlot 22 F Ohio
Amos T. 3 M Ind
Mary J. 1 F Ind
I also found a listing for one Whiteman family in 1850 -
Jefferson Twp., September 19, 1850
Household # 560 560
WHITEMAN Mary 42 F $300 Penn
Sarah A. 19F Ohio
Hannah 16F Ohio
John K. 15 M Ohio
Michael 11M Ohio
Henry F. 9M Ohio
Jasper D. 4M Ohio
By 1860, neither of these families are in Owen Co. There are a couple of
other Heatons listed but no Whiteman.
I hope this helps you. I have the 1850 and 1860 censuses if you need
further lookups.
On the cemeteries, there is a good listing of Owen Co Cemeteries on the
website for Owen Co.

On the marriages, you could contact the Owen Co library for a listing of the
marriages of a certain surname. There is a book there they can copy a page
for you for the price of the copy and the mailing. If you find one, you can
contact the courthouse and they will mail you a copy of the marriage if the
know the book and page #. The library email is
www.owenlib.org You will
need the genealogical dept.
Good luck,

Subject: [INOWEN] Whitemans of Owen County
I am looking for information on Christian Whiteman Family that lived
near
Spencer Indiana. I have done some research at Spencer, but I could not find a
record of Marriage for two of his daughters' Ann' born about 1831 and
'Hannah' born about 1833. So they would have married sometime around 1850. I
have info on 'Charlotte' that married Lorenzo Heaton.
Christian died in Owen County in the late 1840's but don't
have exact
date or where he is buried. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Please Keep in Touch...Doc Whiteman
