Listmembers:
Unfortunately it is that time of year again when weather will again be
preventing any further active cemetery searching in our Indiana counties. It
will not be long before the roads will become snowy and the time for
traveling to various libraries will also be gone until next year.
I myself do not relish the cold weather, but I do look forward to the time
that it gives me to take the data I have gathered in the warm months and
make it work for me. No insult intended, but I sort of feel like that little
squirrel finally breaking into his hoard of nuts during the winter! I of
course give attention to my research gatherings at the time I get them-but I
stockpile the majority of it for the times that I cannot get out and dig
some more.
I realize that during the summer months our list activity falls off simply
by virtue of having other things to do around the house.
It is that time to sort through all the things that you have found and find
out what questions you still have regarding your research. Make your needed
postings to the mailing list now so that other researchers going through
their files might just find some answers for you!
I know that there have been some new researchers who have recently joined
our list within the past few weeks. This will also give us an opportunity to
find out who they are researching and perhaps they will be the ones who have
those answers we are all searching for.
To make a posting to the list simply create an email addressed to:
INOWEN-L(a)rootsweb.com
Place in the subject line something that is pertinent to the research
content of your email; such as family surname, dates, location-CARUTHERS--
1830-1895-NC> KY> IN
Include in the body of your email what information exactly your are
searching for, try to be as specific as you can be with any details that you
might have in order for someone else to identify with your query. Include as
much of the following as you have such as dates, places, children, spouse or
siblings names.
Make as many postings to the list as you want to, it is best to include only
one surname/family per email. If you try to put them all in there it gets
confusing and deleted.
For those of you answering emails-try to answer as many as you can IF YOU
HAVE THE ANSWER NEEDED.
This isn't just for the new researchers either, I would like to see some
postings from our long standing members as well. You need to get that data
out there for the new researchers to consider and possibly answer!!
For this mailing list to lay dormant is to disregard one of the best
researching tools that we have.
