List Members:
I wish to take this time to wish each and every one of you on the mailing
list a Merry Christmas and safe holiday season.
I would also like to take this time to remind everyone that it is that time
of year again when some persons are receiving new computers as presents.
How this affects us is that there will be a new crop of researchers entering
the internet who have maybe never researched online before as well as new
members of the mailing list.
While this might open a few new vistas for more connection possibilities, it
also is a time to be aware of a few other items, such as:
As many of these persons as I said have never researched online before and
perhaps not on a mailing list;
There will be postings that often:
1. Don't make sense
2. Have incomplete information
3. Request much more then etiquette dictates.
4. Forget to say "thank you"
Please be pleasant, patient and forgiving with these people as they are
truly innocent of their mistakes in most cases.
The most important issue however surrounding the newcomers is that in the
excitement of getting the new computer, getting online, and researching;
They may often forget or be ignorant of the need for virus protection or
just plain unwary of what they open and contract a virus.
You can protect yourselves by taking the time NOW to make certain that your
virus programs are up to date.
You might also take the time to go through and clean out your files in
preparation for making postings to get your message out to the new members.
It would be a good idea perhaps to wait till a few days after Christmas and
then make as many postings as you can for the newbies to the list.
Remember to set an example for their postings in-
Placing in the subject line: NAME of ancestor, location and any pertinent
dates
Placing in the body of the posting: As much pertinent or identifying
information as you possibly can

If you look deeply into the palm of your hand, you will see your parents and
all generations of your ancestors. All
of them are alive in this moment. Each is present in your body. You are the
continuation.
