HEY in a few days maybe I can dig out some genealogy and help you along. I
have a small Bowling Boling Bolin connection.. They connect to either
Modesitt or Stevens Line I have to see which. I think Ira Bolin married
into the Modesitt line. The Carolina Church in Owen Co in Morgan or Jackson
township. The Hicks and Haltoms connect a lot. come to think about it is
the Stevens/Stephens line because Henry Brantley Stevens married Amy Hicks.
I can't help a lot but will try to help some but it will take me a few days.
You might contact
Daviau1(a)juno.com and ask her as my husband is having some health problems
and it might be a few days until I can help.. If "patti" doesn't help I
will
try to get someone else to help you. Jordan Village in Owen county and
then some in Poland which is in Owen and Clay counties and touches Putnam
county a little.

I had been researching the Bolin family for some years when I ran
into a
dead-end with Ira Bolin. I finally hired a CGRS researcher from the Fort
Wayne, Indiana area. She successfully traced my Ira (Benira) Bolin to a
movement that occurred in the 1830 period.
"A migration from Montgomery County, North Carolina traveled the
wilderness
road some 700 miles going through Kentucky, crossing the Ohio at
Madison,
Indiana and settled in Owen County. The people in this group were:
Beaman,
Bolin, Carter, Haltom, Hicks, Hurt, Jordan, Langdon, Lucas, Luther,
Morris,
Randall, Reynolds, Singleton, and stephenson. They entered adjoining
land,
established the New Union Baptist Church in Norgan Township that,
even
today, is known as the Carolina Church." From Owen County Indiana, A
history" published by Owen County Historical and Genealogical Society.
My Bolin line was then traced back through Anson and Montgomery County,
North Carolina to Sharon, Connecticut where the trail again dwindles.
However, there was enough information to connect to David and Agnes Boland
who was from Woodbury, Connecticut in 1767. A scotchman by birth. Two
sons
who were officers in the revolutionary war, David and William.
William
appears to be my ancestor. Agnes appears to be Irish.
The name Boland, bolen, bolling, etc. has many variations and all must be
checked.
All in all an interesting journey.
