Researching Carmack, Hartsock, and Miller families, related Dent,
Hankins/Hawkins, and Smith families, and possibly related Tribble family
(covering a time period from the 1820s to the 1870s).
My most difficult line is that of my ancestor, William John Miller, who was
born in Kentucky @ 1824 and married (in Owen Co. in April 1844) Marilda
Hartsock, daughter of Keziah (Carmack) and Daniel Hartsock. I have not been
able to find anything on William's parents. According to the 1880 Census,
his father was born in Pennsylvania and his mother was born in Kentucky. I
also suspect that a Jacintha Miller could be his sister (or cousin?).
Jacintha married Cornelius Tribble; both Jacintha & Cornelius and William &
Marilda were married by John Mugg; and, in the late 1840s, William & Marilda
purchased land from Jacintha & Cornelius. William and Marilda moved to
Sullivan County, Missouri circa 1854/55, as did several members of the
Carmack family (uncle and cousins of Marilda).
Do any of these names ring a bell with other Owen County Miller family
researchers?

Wendy Carver
