Do you have any idea just how many "Moses" that could entail?
Could you try to refine it a little; in that way, someone might be able to
assist you. Perhaps a wife's name or a child's name??
Most of us research the surname of a family as they connect. All the Moses
would not connect together, I wouldn't think.

Hi Jackie,

I have been researching the Firebaugh family of Owen County, IN. Daniel
Firebaugh's children married into the Condor and Fiscus families. Daniel
Webster Firebaugh (1841-1921) married Mary Elizabeth "Betsy" Condor. She was
born 1837 and died 1916. From Owen County, they moved to Beulah, Madison
County, MO. I do not have any info on her family.
William Firebaugh (1831-1894) married his second wife Mary Jane Fiscus Scott
(1837-1916) I have her parents listed as Jacob Fiscus (1803-1895) and her
mother Jane Bowen.
If this helps you in any way, let me know and I can fill in with the
children and other data. I am not sure if I had contacted you before and given you
this info, but I do show you in my e-mail addresses. So if this is duplicate
info, sorry.

Thanks to folks on this list who helped with my earlier query about the
Bethel Christian Church!
I continue researching the Conder family. Specifically, I'm trying to find
records for my 3xg-grandfather Thomas Conder (1802-1865), who lived in Owen
County from ca. 1840 to ca. 1860.
Conder records are very confused in the early generations, but some indicate
that Thomas may have been a son of Jacob and Mary Conder, buried at Dutch
Bethel Cemetery.
Jacob lived 1775-1858
Mary lived 1781-1844
(Jacob may have m. 2nd Frances Arnold late in 1844)
Jacob Conder seems to have come from KY to Owen County in the 1820s. I
wonder if he is the "Jacob Condra" that shows up in the 1820 IN census index, but
he is listed for sure in the 1830 index for Owen County.
There are a cluster of Conder marriages in Owen County beginning in the late
1820s to folks with Bethel Church connections, and performed by ministers who
served Bethel:
Elizabeth Conder & Henry Fiscus, 1827 (marriage performed by Obadiah Winters)
Martin Conder & Catherin Fiscus, 1828 (Obadiah Winters)
Mary Ann Conder & Jonathan (John) Fiscus, 1828 (John Conrad)
Margaret Conder & Jesse Handley, 1831
Sally Conder & Solomon Fiscus, 1832 (Obadiah Winters)
Rebecca Conder & Shepherd Beavins, 1834
Hardin Conder & Sally Fulk, 1836 (Fred Hauser)
Jacob Conder & Frances Arnold, 1844 (John Conrad) -- the Sr. Jacob, or a son?
Esther Conder & Jesse May, 1847
Henry G. Conder & Dicy (Scott) Dawson 1848 (Jacob Hon)-- my 2xg-grandparents,
son of Thomas Conder
Adam Conder & Elizabeth Cumming 1848
Elizabeth Conder & George Hall, 1849
(I've found the listings for Henry & Elizabeth Fiscus, and John and Mary Ann
Fiscus, being buried at Dutch Bethel Cemetery)
>From Owen County census returns I've also found:
Joseph Conder & wife Lydia, he b. ca. 1805 in KY (1870/1880 census)
Hardin Conder b. ca. 1815 in KY (1870/1880, etc.)
Adam Conder b. ca. 1816 (1870, not in 1880)
Henry Fiscus & Elizabeth, she b. ca. 1805 in KY
These are all likely offspring of Jacob Conder.
Concerning my Thomas, we know that he was born ca. 1802, probably in KY but
maybe in Mecklenberg County NC. He m. Nancy Whittinghill in 1823 in Mercer
County, KY. We believe they came to Owen County from KY ca. 1840. They moved to
McLean County, IL, ca. 1861.
Thomas's second son was Henry G. Conder, b. 1826 in KY. He m. Dicy Scott
Dawson in 1838 as noted above, and they followed on to IL and later to KS. (She
was one of the Scott Cemetery Scotts)
Anyway, some Conder records list Thomas as a son of Jacob, others list him as
a son of John Conder in KY (believed to be a brother of Jacob). The fact
that Thomas tarried so long in KY is confusing, but the fact that he came to
where these other Conders were settled seems indicative.... etc.
So, what am I seeking? I wonder if anyone on the list has worked with the
Jacob Conder family, or the Fiscus family. I wonder if Bethel Church records
from the period are on deposit somewhere? I wonder if the 1884 History of Owen
County is available anywhere, and lists any Conder info.?
Any new leads or pointers would be helpful.
All the very best,
Ken Cuthbertson

K. Bargerhuff:
THANK YOU for your help, also. Debbie has sent me the same two censuses.
The death notice of Lotus L. is the most curious.
Lotus is listed as 7 on the 1910 census, making him born about 1903. If
he were 18 in 1913 he would have been born 1895 and listed on the 1900
census.
Any possibility the 18 years of age was transposed and should have been
10 years of age?
Every bit helps! Thank you. Claire
