In organizing the material in church records copied from the New Bedford
Lutheran and Reformed church I noted many families left this area in the
corner of Coshocton and Holmes County, Ohio to settle in Owen Co., IN.
The following names are heads of families that left.

John Smaltz
John George Kroft
Gottleab Smaltz
John George Kaufman
Jacob Oberholser
Jacob Bantz
Lewis Slagal
moved to DeKalb Co., IN was Philip Albright and Joseph Gonser.
Moved to Miami Co., IN was Daniel Sherman
Just stated as moved to IN was Benjamin Metzler and John Mayer.
Adam Stam moved to Illinois
Hope this provides some clues for researchers. Linda Houyouse
Glorianne,
Thank you for letting me know about the death certificate. I am going to
reorder from the state.
Also, I received your email about the cemetery lookup and understand.
Have a nice weekend,

Sandi,
My Mary Bare Triplett died in 1906. In 1983 I obtained two death certs; one
from the county and one from the state. The cert from Vigo County looks as
the one you described that you received; typed on a form, no parents. The one
from the Indiana State Board of Health was a photocopy of the original, and
does have a place for the parents' names and state of birth.
Glorianne
Yes, that is just what that means.

Debbie,
Thank you. Does this mean that the original death certificate might have
the parents' names and they just don't include them?

Charles Marion was born abt 1832 in France and died 22 Sep 1906 in Gosport,
IN. He married Mary M Dunning Johns (daughter of James Johns & maybe Isobel
Hardin and widow of James S Johns) in 1870. He was supposedly buried in
Gosport Cemetery.
The DC I just received from the Owen County Health Dept doesn't have much
info and I will be reordering this info from the state hoping for more info.
There is no obit for him in the Owen County Library. The IN Marriage
Licenses dated before 1900 I've ordered have not listed any personal info.
What do I need to do now to try to find his parents' names?
Thank you,
Sandi Whitty
Unfortunately Sandi, that type of certificate is fairly normal.
They have switched to that for reasons unknown.

Subject: [INOWEN] Death Certificate 1906
I ordered a copy of a death certificate from 1906 and just received it. It
is not a copy, but kind of like a typed transcript. It doesn't have a
place
to list parents, spouse, date or place of birth. It just lists date &
place
of death, age, place of burial and married. Is this normal?

Debbie,
If she doesn't contact you....I have Shirley Rose's current email address. I believe she recently told me that she was not on this list anymore but was considering rejoining. I just talked with her in September.

I have access to taxwise program which when you insert SS number tells you state and year of issue. I don't think it is necessarilly state of birth but state you reside in when applying.
I would not send SS number over e-mail but if someone is interest and wants to call me my number is 770-458-4683.
