Looking for information on Philip Burns b. 1837-1842 Ireland who married
Maria Winkler (b. abt 1837, possibly in Indiana).
They had seven children: John, Serena Ann, Mary (Maria), William, Julia,
Maggie Jane, Frederick.
I think he immigrated from Ireland on 9-13-1852.
I could not he in the 1850 census and also could not find them in the
1860 census.
1870 census shows them in Washington Twp, Owen Cty, IN.
1880 shows them in Eel River Twp, Greene Cty, IN. He worked on the
Railroad.
Any information about either family would be appreciated.
Hi List,
I am looking for death date and/or burial location for Samuel and Sarah
Ring.
The 1860 census has Samuel and Sarah living in Montgomery Twp.
The 1870 census has Sarah living next door to her oldest son, in
Montgomery Twp. Samuel had died??
The 1880 census has Sarah living in Washington Twp., with her grand daughter.
Samuel would have been in his 50's in 1860 and Sarah would have been in her 70's in 1880.
Any and all help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Carol

I am searching for any information on the "mystery children" of Robert
McCullough and Polly Modrell.
The family resided in the Montgomery township area, just northwest of Carp
in Owen County. They were there as early as 1830 and Robert purchased land
there in 1836.
The family was listed there in the 1840 Revolutionary Veterans census and
then disappear.
That census shows: MALES-1 (10-15); 1 (20-30); 1 (50-60); 1 (80-90)
FEMALES-3 (15-20); 4 (20-30); 1 (50-60); 1 (80-90)
There is reason to believe that Robert and Polly died sometime before March
14, 1853 as the home property is shown in a document as sold to William
Guinn; this document is signed by all the children of Robert and Polly.
Using the 1840 census as reference for the number of children in the family,
I find that I am still missing a few of their names. I am also curious as to
just where a couple of the girls were living during the 1850 census as they
were living in their father's home in the 1840; appeared to sign the
document in 1853- so obviously alive in 1850 but don't show up anywhere.
Below is the information that I have on all of them. Any additional
information would be appreciated. (I have all I need on the Cain family
connections.)
1. Mary R. McCullough b. 1810-1820 (based on 1840 census age of
20-30). She married John N Varvil on January 9, 1851. She appears in March
1853 to sign document. She is one of the ones I would like to place for the
1850 census.
2. Female McCullough b. 1810-1820 (based on 1840 census age of 20-30 )
3. Elizabeth McCullough b. 1810-1820 (based on 1840 census age of
20-30 ) She signed document in 1853. Where was she in the 1850 census
records?
4. Hannah McCullough b. 1812 married John Cain on 7-25-1844. Appeared
to sign document in 1853. Resided in the Montgomery twp area until the 1880
census when she appears in Jennings twp. She died sometime after 1880
5. Adam McCullough b. 1818 He married Mary Ann Evans on 5-22-1845.
They appear in the 1850 census living in Jennings twp. He appeared to sign
the document in 1853- disappears after that.
6. Nancy McCullough b. 1820-1825 (based on 1840 census age of 15-20).
Although she appeared to sign document in 1853, there is no record found of
a marriage or death anywhere. Where was she in the 1850 census?
7. Sarah McCullough b. 1820-1825 (based on 1840 census age of 15-20).
She appeared to sign document in 1853 but no marriage/death records. Where
was she in the 1850 census?
8. Margaret McCullough b. 1821. She married Christopher Walker Cain on
2-25-1849. She appeared to sign document in 1853. The family is residing in
Montgomery twp for the 1860 census records.
9. William J. McCullough b. 1829 in Indiana. First child born in IN.
He married Elizabeth Cain on 2-6-1848. They appeared to sign document in
1853.
There are 9 children shown in the 1840 census but only 8 appear for the
document in 1853 they are clearly represented as "heirs of Robert"
signifying his death previously. Sometime around this 1853 date, everyone
just vanishes.
Any help is much appreciated.

Hello! As always, interested in sharing info on the Jesse PHIPPS family, who
had ties with the LONG and STAMPER families, to name a few, in the OWEN
County area in the mid 1800s. My direct line in this bunch falls from Jesse PHIPPS
through son Matthew, but I'm interested in any and all branches. Other names
are TOLLIVER, HICKS, ABRELL and HOLBERT. The PHIPPS family came to the OWEN
County area in about 1830 from Virginia, and some stayed on, while others
moved away as the years went on. Other locations involved are Missouri, Illinois,
Oklahoma and Iowa.

EZRA R. SCOTT (b. 1882)
ALBERT E. SCOTT (b. 1885, died mining accident in Colorado)
Charlie's (or Charley) mother and possibly his step-father moved to Kansas.
She is buried in Muscotah Cemetery, Atchison County, KS, as well as Jennie
(Scott) Martin Hall. Where is Charlie? Where is Ezra? When did Albert E.
Scott die - he is buried in Horton, also, but he died in Denver? What
happened to John Ezra Scott?
Any help appreciated. Ready to share information.

Since I "lurk" for the most part on this board as this arm of the family is
not the focus at this time, but I am always interested in the ancestors of
John Marion Rabaduex (1849-1929) m. Rachael Anna Christian (1854-1934) and
affiliated families (Criss, Christian, Need, Scott, Daniels, Ellis).
John Marion Rabaduex lived in Owen County from the early 1870's to about
1885, marrying Rachael in 1874. They headed for Mexico via Conestoga wagon where
John's brother was building railroads in the gold mining regions. They only
made it as far as Bismarck, St. Francois County, Missouri where the wagon
broke down and they were taken under the wing of the Baptist Church for the
winter, which they eventually joined. They are both buried in Bismarck, as are a
number of the children born in Owen County. (They were prolific and lucky,
with 10 of 10 children living to adulthood.)
I have a photo taken in circa 1925 at the time of their 50th anniversary
showing some of the affiliated families that traveled to MO for the celebration.
I have some photos of the tombstones in the Owen County area, but have only
made two trips to Owen County, the remainder of the information found in the
Owen County History and Genealogy Society publications or via other sources. I
am willing to share any information.

Hi Listers,
I have cracked my brick wall and desperately need help getting through it! I am searching for information on any of these people:
Huet N. DIXON, (b. c1781), m. 10-10-1809, Delila FOOKES (b. 1784), in Worcester Co., MD.
They brought their family to Indiana in 1832. Their children as I know it, are:
Eleanor DIXON, later marrying a Mr. STENING (the spelling may be different).
Elizabeth DIXON, later marrying a Mr. Littleton HUDSON.
Levin DIXON.
Mary DIXON, later marrying a Mr. George BIELBY.
William Fooks DIXON, (b. 1811), who married Julia Ann ROUNDS (b. 1814) in 1833, in Dearborn Co., IN.
Nancy A. DIXON, b. 1818, who married Hudson McCORMACK in 1839 in Owens Co., IN.
Huet N. DIXON Jr., b. c1823.
Michael F. DIXON, b. c1826, married Sarah.
Nathaniel DIXON, b. c1829, married Janthia.
This is one other thing that I have found:
Nancy McCORMACK

She was born in the year 1818, moved with her parents, Hewett and Dellah Dixon, to Dearborn county, Indiana, in 1832. She was a member of the Methodist Church for many years. She has gone form a land of sickness, to that land where death never comes. She left two sons and three daughters to mourn their loss.
I am looking for anything about them and their families. Any help will be appreciated.

This is the best data I hold at the moment. My goal is to
identify the parents of Elizabeth Porter whom I believe to be
a sister of Alexander, Nicholas, Daniel and Jesse Edward Sims.
These brothers constitute the brickwall on this family, so I
am looking at early female Sims marriages in Monroe, Greene
and Owen Cos - hoping that some descendent of one of the
girls may have some information. A possible source of information
might exist in the obituaries for John or Elizabeth - probably
between 1880 and 1900. Any and all help or suggestions
much appreciated. Kathryn Sims Martin
