longer to be posted; if you have a specific name, I will look them up for you
until I can get them posted. Once the following are posted, we will have all

Who is C. ESON? We went to the Scott Cemetery, Franklin Twp. Owen Co. IN last week and found a red stone, broken on both sides, inscribed "C. ESON." Only date legible is "July," year in the next line might be 1825.
Elizabeth SCOTT, daughter of Samuel & Milly (FOSTER) SCOTT married first Alexander EASON (sometimes spelled ESON) and had four children, one of them George who died at age 12.
This tombstone is not listed in the DAR cemetery census. Please add it to your list. Thanks.
If you would like a copy of the photo of the tombstone, send a personal request. Nancy Skinner White took the picture & I have it also on my computer.

My local antique store has a needlepoint genealogy from the first half of the 1800s for the family of Artemas Pratt (married to a Gordon). My antiquing "buddy" has all of the names written down for the children, etc.
I was just doing a search online to see if I could find this fellow and notify some descendant of this needlepoint's existence before it ended up as "folk" art on someone else's wall. I saw the name on a head of household listing for Owen County (1870 I think), which is great because I actually belong to this list! Anyone out there have this fellow in your tree?

A 1878 Oregon biography notated that Silas W. R. Jones of Owen County, Indiana "...He attended the Seminary at Bedford about seven months; paying his way by hard work all the time. After this short term at school he commenced teaching on occassion ... for about two years..." S.W.R. Jones (1814-1911) lived Owen County ca 1825 until 1853 when he left for Oregon. He attended the Bedford Seminary at the age of 19 (1833). Does anyone know where this Bedford Seminary was in the Owen County area and anything of its history?
If you have access to the 1870 census for Morgan, Owen, or Putnam county,
Indiana, I am seeking a lookup for a DUNKIN/DUNCAN family with at least the
following. SARAH age 49, son JAMES, age 16, and perhaps daughter SUSAN
MARY/MARY SUSAN, age 14. Sarah and James are shown in Putnam Co in 1880,
next door to Morris Carter and John Carter families.
This could help tear down a roadblock of 30+ years.
Thanks very much.

A new section has been added to our website containing "Early Land Claims" of
Owen county; a selection of land patents filed.
I am asking for any contributions in the following categories:
1. Oldest/Youngest Photos: This is a section that shows the earliest born
ancestor you have a photo of and the most recent born member of your family.
This doesn't need to be of the SAME SURNAME, just both members of your family
line.
2. Letters from the Past: Any old letters that you might have copies of
3. Our Featured Family--a submission of a Genealogy Report on one family line
that was in one of our covered areas.
