Posted by Priscilla Normandy Greenwood for Russ McCarty:
My name is Russ McCarty. My line descends from the offspring of Aaron
Hardwick McCarty (who married Nancy Beavers), and his son Cornelius
McCarty and his wife Malissa Combs, many of whose descendants repose in
the Combes Cemetery. However, Aaron Hardwick McCarty, the
Virginia/Kentucky progenitor of this family and his wife rest somewhere
else. Does anyone know where? They owned large tracts of land in the
early 1800s in the area between the present Combs Cemetery and the town of
Gosport. Of course Quincy, where his descendents are buried is located
almost on the Putnam County line,so it's possible that he and his wife are
buried in a Putnam County cemetery. Any clues would be appreciated.
Sincerely,
Russ McCarty

Dick,
They are all listed in Combes Cemetery in the book "Owen County Cemetery
Listings," 1983. With the exception of Mahala, the names below are all in the
S.E. Corner, Row 13. Mahala Carter is listed in
Row 11, as w/o L., 7 Oct 1849 - 23 Aug 1866.
> Mahala Carter, Richard K Carter, Columba Carter, C A Carter,
> Eliza Carter.... My information is that they are buried at Combes
> Cemetery, south of Quincy in Taylor Twp., Owen County...someone has sent me
> information that they are at Beech Cemetery in Marion Twp., Owen Co.
I know my father's name is on a gravestone far from where he's buried, but
that seems like an awful lot of Carters to be wrong. Please let us know what
you find out.
Priscilla
Linda, I saw two mentions of your name and BUSH in the recent Owen Co. Journal.
We are interested in finding the residences, children, and death & burial info of Mary Louisa SCOTT (born 1832, daughter of Samuel & Milly (FOSTER) SCOTT) and Thomas BUSH, married 1 March 1855.
Do you know of this couple? Are they buried in the Bush cemetery?
Who did you hire to place a stone in the Bush cemetery? The Scott cemetery needs a new stone for Samuel Scott and possibly others.
Thanks. nancy
I am looking for information on the Guy family in Owen County. Specifically,
for information on Albert Guy. On May 6, 1891 two male children were born,
but no names are listed for the children nor for his wife. I believe that
one of these children may be my grea-grandfather James H. Guy, but as yet I
have no proof. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Andrea

I am seeking any information on the following:
In his on-line info, Robert Weller talks about Permelia Mallory's (b. 8 Mar 1809, in VA) father (Ezekiel). "Who moved to Madison Co., KY and in old age lived in Putnam Co., IN" The 1820 Madison Co., census has a "Rojer" and Elijah Mallory living as next-door neighbors. There are a lot of "old folks" in these two households. Can't find any Mallory deaths and by 1830 the only Mallory left is Elizabeth (James's widow?) with four children.
Elijah shows up in the 1830 Putnam Co. IN census. I place him and Ezekiel there by 1826 since Permelia was married there 11 Jan 1826. By 1829 Permelia and husband Greenberry Cox are back and have their first child in Madison Co., KY. Any thoughts?
And what about Roger II Mallory showing up next door in Fayette Co., Lexington Twp.,KY in the 1820 census? Coincidence?
Regards,
Bill Mallory
Still looking for any descendants of Robert and Frances Reynolds or Samuel F.Duncan and Frances Reynolds. She is the same person and she came from Ohio. Her maiden name was Roath. Her sister was Clerissa Roath who married OJ Winters. Any distant cousins, I would love to hear from.
