Nancy,
I found this note in my file re descendants of Dicy SCOTT and Henry CONDER:
>>WFT Vol.4:Tree 746
Henry and Dicy produced 8 children. She had 2 by a first marriage to Dawson.
In 1878 all ten were living.<<
Unfortunately, it didn't list any names.
As for DAWSON, he must have died by 1845 because Dicy DAWSON was listed as a
widow in "Individuals Before 1850 Involved in Court Settlements" on
http://www.owen.in.us/owenhist/court1.htm

Connie Wright below. Our information has gone back two more generations
into Halifax Co. VA and Person Co. & Caswell Co. NC. We are finding a lot
of Owen Co. names in this area. Here is a website with all our info and
perhaps some of yours!

I am a descendant of William Hancock & Sarah Asher. They moved to Owen
County from Kentucky about 1835, were divorced in 1837. Sarah eventually
moved to Iowa with older son Henderson Hancock. Am trying to determine what
happened to William after the divorce. Their son William V. Hancock married
Rhoda Dunagan, daughter of Acre Dunagan and Permelia Cathcart. I would like
information on the parents of Acre and Permelia. Any help would be
appreciated.
Also would like to learn what happened to William V's twin brother Sanders
(or John Sanders. Supposed to have fought in Mexican War, but never hear of
again.

The 1880 IN Census for Gosport, Owen County has a Charles Marion, 47, born in
France, his wife, Mary, 36, born in IN, daughter, Gertie, 16, born in IN, and
son, John, 9, born in IN.
I have found a Charles Marion in the 1860 IN Census in another county and
this Charles could be the same one.
Is anyone else researching this family?
Thank you,
Sandi

I'm trying to find information on the families of John F. or T. BURKS b.
1847 IN m. Sarilda {Sarah} A. SKINNER b. ca1843 KY....I only have 1880 census
{Clay Twp.,Owen Co.IN} info on them, but believe from that info Sarah is the
dau of Clark SKINNER b. 1794 KY and Lucinda "Susannah" Unknown b. 1812 KY.
This SKINNER family migrated from Garrard Co.KY ca1852 to Greene Co.IN,
living in Beech Creek Twp. The BURKS were found 1880 in Owen Co., Clay Twp.
and her Mother Susannah was living with them and living close by was her
brother David J. SKINNER and family.
If anyone has any knowledge of this John BURKS line or Sarah SKINNER's line,
I would love to share family info with you.
Thanks so much,

A while back I made contact with a descendant of our 1st great-grandmother, Mary Ann (Ritter) Sloan Davis' first marriage to a William Slown/Sloan. Mary Ann had six children by this first marriage, four daughters, Nancy, Martha, Elizabeth and Ellen Sarah, also two sons, John W. and Wesley. At the time of Mary Ann's death on 10 March 1902 and according to her obituary, there were only two of the six children still living at the at time of her death, John W. and Martha. I have not been successful in locating anything about Martha or any of her descendants if she had any, but the contact that I made is a descendant of John W., named Emile E. Slowan. Emile spells his last name different from Mary Ann's first husband, William Slown/Sloan did, but Emile is definitely a descendant of John W. Sloan.
Emile does not know anything about any of the other five brother and sisters of John W. Sloan and he has forwarded to me all the ancestors of his dating back to John W. Sloan.
My question is, are you folks or any of our other relatives that you are in contact with interested in having access to this data? If so, would you please let me know if you are and also the names and addresses of the others of our family who might be interested.
I hope that this finds you folks and all your loved ones well and in very good health. I think of you often and am eager to stay in contact with you. Please give everyone our love and best wishes.
Much love to all,
John & Ellie
Hello Philadelphia
URGENT REQUEST!:
Now that we are over the holidays, This years is our 350th Anniversary of
the landing of the Swartwout family in North America. The name has many
variations such as Swarthout, Swartout, Swartwood, Swathwood, Swarthwood
etc. We need help in gather lines, pictures, articles, wills, what ever you
have stashed in your attic. We would really appreciated it if you shared
with us what you had, there a literally thousands of us here looking for
our roots, looking for connections. For our 350th Anniversary we need to
updated our list of folks out there that are descendants somewhere along the
line of any of those variations. We also have a family newsletter that cost
only $5.00 per year, a real bargain. Just send it your mailing address.
Every day I get e-mail asking me for help. Up here in Canada, there were two
brothers that had huge families, all the remains of their descendants are
the female sides. All the male went back to the States. I'm am the
maintainer of "The Updated Swartwout Chronicles" People submit their
lines-ged-coms etc. and I just drop them into the data base. It is
everyone's database. Each person is responsible for their own submissions.

Good evenings members of the Clay County Genealogical Society & Friends,
Jeff Koehler, County Historian is so excited about a video he received,
that came by way of California back to this area, of a movie taken in
Center Point, his home town, in the year of 1934. He wants to show it to
everyone! It is worth your trip to Center Point to meet our County

This will be after our 2:00 P. M., Society's monthly meeting, Sunday Jan
