Dear Peg:
I just looked up my Long family and realize that John Calvin Long was born
in Tuscarawas County, Ohio (not NC like most of my other Owen County
connections, oops). He was born 5/09/1830 and died 6/09/1862 in Owen County.
He was married to Catherine Adaline Irvin. John Calvin Long's father was
Jacob Long, b. 12/29/1801 in Columbiana County, Ohio, died 10/30/1866 in
Owen County, Indiana. His wife was Susan Kriss, died in 1871. Any connection
to your Longs?

I am seeking information on William Larkin JONES, and/or his parents, Anse
JO;NES and Laura COOPER. I have indications that William Larkin JONES
attended the first three grades in school at the city of Spencer -- estimated
to have been in the general time period of 1885-1895. I do not know if his
parents were with him or if he had already moved to be reared by an "Aunt &
Uncle, Dr. Augustus TULLEY".
I will share what little information I have. Please help with any
leads you might have. I believe the family came from Spencer County in
Southern Indiana.

Interested in the above names and more.
Louis Philip SCHAUWECKER (b. 1851 OH) married Hannah GONSER, daughter of
Elias GONSER and Nellie Ellen WINKLEPLECK. Lewis was the son of John Jacob
SCHAUWECKER and Catherine VARNES. Catherine's first husband is believed to
be Daniel GONSER (married 1843 Coshocton Co. OH). She is buried in St.
Peter's Cemetery, Marion Twp. Owen Co. Need death date for John Jacob.
I have families for the above but am looking for descendants who can
collaborate and confirm dates, etc.
Thanks,
Peg Adams

Jesse JONES b. 10-6-1824 it is believed in NC. He married Sarah YOUNG on
4-25-1839. The couple resided in Owen county IN and Jesse died there on
1-9-1888 and Sarah died there on 11-10-1912. I would be interested in the
parents of either of these persons...This is NOT the Jesse Jones that was the
doctor in the Cunot area.

My links to Owen are many. My grandmother MARY ELIZABETH NORRIS married
JOHN MOSEMAN JR. after both their families migrated from the Coshocton
OH area. My question is what line of Norris to follow. What I have been
passed down in family research is Mary Elizabeth was daughter to WILLIAM
S. NORRIS and CHARITY NORRIS. I have found a Charity, daughter to
WILLIAM NORRIS SR.b. Oct. 4, 1800 and CATHERINE REED with children as
follows:
JACOB NORRIS,b.August 4, 1825 md. to RACHEL
THOMAS NORRIS, b. May 22, 1827, maybe married to ANN NORMAN, Aug. 11,
1863
MARY(POLLY) NORRIS, b. Aug. 27, 1829
WILLIAM JR. NORRIS, b. September 9, 1831
ANNE NORRIS, b. Jan. 20, 1834(maybe married JOHN BAUMGARTNER)
CHARITY NORRIS, b. Feb. 25, 1835, Coshocton, OH d. Nov. 7, 1906 Owen,
IN
ELIZABETH NORRIS, b. May 1837, d. aft. 1906
Child of WILLIAM NORRIS SR. and HANNAH POLLAND md. in Coshocton Nov. 28,
1839 :
JAMES NORRIS, b. 1841
Charity and William S. were married March 27, 1855 in Coshocton, OH and
children are listed as follows:
MARY ELIZABETH NORRIS, b. Sept. 10, 1857, d. Oct. 19, 1920, md. JOHN
MOSEMAN
JR. Oct. 17, 1875 in Holmes, OH. (John Sr. married ELIZABETH
BAUMGARTNER in Coshocton, OH.
JOHN NORRIS, b. Jan. 21, 1859, d. Mar. 9, 1859
THOMAS NORRIS, b. Sept. 27, 1860, d. Oct. 29, 1860
MARTHA NORRIS, b. Oct. 18, 1861, d. Mar. 5, 1864
LAURA ETTA NORRIS, B. Oct. 3, 1866, D. May 2, 1946, md. GEORGE G.
DAYHUFF,
Nov. 8, 1885
EVA LAVINA NORRIS, b. Feb. 3, 1869, d. Oct. 19, 1934
SAMUEL WILLIAM NORRIS, b. Oct. 22, 1873, d. Dec. 13, 1924, md. CAROLINE
KIEFFABER Nov. 18, 1895 in Owen, IN.
If anyone has different information, I would be most grateful to be
corrected. I am also unclear why there were two Charities in Owen with
different birth dates. In 1900 there was a CHARITY NORRIS age 71 that
does not calculate to being born in 1835. It could be a mistake was made
by census recorder. There was also a SAMUEL NORRIS b. abt 1825 in OH
married to KEZIAH DULING b. abt. 1824 in OH on the 1860 census and I do
not know how or if they are related. JOHN MOSEMAN SR. immigrated from
Switzerland as did the BAUMGARTNERs in the 1830's and were in Coshocton,
OH before migrating to Owen, IN. I have learned most of this NORRIS
family migrated in the 1860's to Owen, IN from Coshocton area in OH as
well.
Peggy Moseman Kohn.
Is there a mennonite cemetery in Owen? I found a book at the Vigo
Library that lists burials for Owen. William Moseman(probably John) and
Samuel Norris (ancestors of mine) were buried there. If there is such a
place, where can I find it? PeggyMoseman Kohn
James COFFELT b: ca 1805 TN married ca. 1823 in Owen or Clay Co., IN
Nancy HICKS b: NC, dau. of Robert V. HICKS and Sarah Ann JORDAN

if it was before or after James death) where she lived near Samuel COFFELT
and other members of her extended family.

I am searching for any info on:
Jonathan MASSEY (son of Thomas)
B. about 1773 in NC
D. unknown in IN??
He married:
Francis (Franky) DAVIS on November 2, 1797 in Grainger county TN
Francis(Franky) DAVIS (dau of John and Elizabeth (?)DAVIS
b.about 1777 in NC
d. unknown in IN??
Jonathan and Franky are last found in the Owen county 1850 census taking
listed as:
Jonathan 77 years old
Franky 73 years old
both born in NC
living in the household with them is:
Jane age 26 born KY
Lydia age 13 born IN
With Lydia's birth that would place them in IN about 1837.
The total of children for this couple is seven:
Issac born 1807 TN
Lucy Ann born about 1809 TN
Willis born about 1813 TN
Jacob born October 6, 1814 KY
Elizabeth born about 1816 KY
Jane born about 1824 KY
Lydia born about 1837 IN
I would like to fill in some of these blanks and some of the "abouts" also
find the info on the parents of Jonathan and Francis (DAVIS)MASSEY.
Thanks for any help

My line descends from Andrew EVANS and Elizabeth FAIN.
Andrew EVANS b. 9-28-1759 in Mecklenburgh county NC and he and Elizabeth
FAIN married about 1781 in Washington county TN. They later migrated to Owen
county IN where Andrew died 12-5-1840.
I am interested in finding the parents of Andrew EVANS. I have seen various
claims that his lineage proceeds as:
David Evans--father
Peter--grandfather
Lot Evans II--great grandfather
Lot Evans I--gg grandfather.
As of yet however, I can find no proof of this. Anywhere I have seen this
listed there is never any clue as to the poster so I can write for
documentation.
Does anyone have any information on this line?

I am searching for any information regarding an Anna
E. Workman who lived in and around the Rowan County NC
area about 1795.Anna was born about1776. She married Ephraim Goss on March
23,1795 in Rowan county NC. They migrated to
Washington county IN about 1810 and then on to Owen
county IN in 1818. Anna died there on Sept 19, 1854.
This couple had 10 children and I would be interested
in sharing any data. I am trying however to locate who
her parents were or at least eliminate any
Workman/Wortman in the 1790 Rowan county NC census.

Hello Listmembers:
Vacation time was just great and I realize that many of you will also be
leaving for your various vacations also.
This allows for a slack time in the list activity. As I have noticed that
there has been little activity, I am assuming that many of you are already
out enjoying yourselves.
For the benefit of those who are still with us, lets have a roll call to get
some queries on these lists.
We will run the roll call from tonight (Friday) the 15th of June at midnight
through next Saturday the 23rd of June at midnight.
Just a few quick reminders on placing queries for the mailing lists, just to
make it run smoothly.
FIRST AND FOREMOST--DON'T SEND THE POST TO ME PERSONALLY, SEND IT TO THE LIST.
1. Please remember to use the subject line effectively.
2. Include any name(s) that you might have
3. Include any time periods or if they are estimates please let us know.
4. Make sure to include any locations or migrations that you are aware of.
5. Make certain to make clear just exactly what type of info you are
searching for.
6. Please place the SURNAME in capital letters and not the whole post, as
this makes the surname stand out.
7. When placing a query on more then one person or couple, please use
different postings. There is no limit to the number of postings that you may
place.
8. Include as much info as possible in order to have the best chance for a
response.
9. Please attempt to answer as many queries as you might have information for.
10. MOST IMPORTANTLY--
REMEMBER TO THANK ANYONE ANSWERING YOUR QUERY--
What they send NOW, might not be much, but if they are not thanked for it,
then later if they find something substantial....they might be reluctant to
send it to you.
PARTICIPATING IN THE ROLL CALL IS OPTIONAL AND NOT MANDATORY, IF YOU FEEL
THAT YOU DON'T NEED TO POST AT THIS TIME, THEN DON'T FEEL FORCED TO.
Good Luck to Everyone in your searching.
