Which Wells family was this Samuel living with? Does it say where he was born
and when? I don't have my 1860's census book yet. So far as I know Samuel is
not one of Alexander Scott's children. But it's possible from early census
records that I am missing a male child. If Mildred came from Monroe County,
Ohio and Samuel did as well, there won't be a marriage record since the 1867
courthouse fire destroyed those records. I'll check my 1820 and 1830 Monroe
County, Ohio census books for Puling or Pullen.

Our SCOTT webpage is moving. This is the genealogy of the descendants of Samuel SCOTT and Milly FOSTER, who lived in Owen County, 1820s ff. Soon we will update the info, add stories and photos. Looking for photos of the children of Samuel & Milly (FOSTER) SCOTT. We have a few of them. Send them e-mail attachments, reduced in K, if possible. Nancy,
I just checked my SCOTT database and I only have one Samuel SCOTT b. 1843
s/o John SCOTT b. 1700 Ireland and Ellen BEAVER b. 1802 PA. Sorry I couldn't
have been more help. I'm still looking for this Samuel SCOTT as well, know
he was in Owen Co. living with a WELLS family on the 1860 census, but there
is where my trail ends with him.

Hi, Ohio Scotts!
We have a mystery in our VA>Owen Co. IN SCOTTs.
Some of our folks have this marriage:
Samuel SCOTT + Mildred PULING / PULLEN.
Mildred was born 10 Aug 1778 Northumberland Co. VA, daughter of Leroy & Winnie (UNKNOWN) PULLEN.
The marriage is supposed to have been 14 Nov 1844 Owen Co. IN, but I have not found it listed in the Owen Co. before 1850 list.
This is neither our Samuel SCOTT + Milly FOSTER m 5 Mar 1812 Person Co. NC,
nor his son Samuel S. SCOTT m1 Amelia McNAUGHT, m2 Frances Jane (BARNARD) KIGER.
Perhaps you know who Mildred is and which Samuel SCOTT she married, if any.
Thanks. nancy

Jonathan and Franky are last found in the Owen county 1850 census taking
listed as:
Jonathan 77 years old
Franky 73 years old
both born in NC
living in the household with them is:
Jane age 26 born KY
Lydia age 13 born IN
With Lydia's birth that would place them in IN about 1837.
The total of children for this couple is seven:
Issac born 1807 TN
Lucy Ann born about 1809 TN
Willis born about 1813 TN
Jacob born October 6, 1814 KY
Elizabeth born about 1816 KY
Jane born about 1824 KY
Lydia born about 1837 IN
( I understand that Lydia was a grandchild of Jonathan and Francis Massey)
I would like to fill in some of these blanks and some of the "abouts" also
find the info on the parents of Jonathan and Francis (DAVIS)MASSEY.
Thanks for any help

Simpson, 1832, In Ky.
Asa, 1834, in KY
John, 1836, In KY.

Thanks to you I have been able to uncover more dates of relatives who lived
in Owen County. Do you have any information concerning William Winters? I
believe he also pastored the Old Bethel Church in the 1840's.
The following is some documentation from the Deciples of Christ. I
understand they were very much involved in Owen County between 1860-1885.
From: The Christian Record, January, 1883.
Article by: James Mathes, Editor
Pg. 31. Bethel Church is one of the oldest churches in Owen County, and is
situated in a good farming district, in the western part of the county, some
ten miles west of Spencer, the county seat. I had held a meeting of some
interest here, when I was a "boy preacher," more than fourty years ago,
while Elders Frederick Houser, Obediah and Thomas Winters were the preachers
in the church, and 9-were immersed at that time. But time had made great
changes. The old log meeting-house has disappeared; a new one was built,
which was burned some years ago, and the present spacious house is the third
one. And the congregation has been greatly changed also. The three preachers
named have all passed to the other shore...
We made headquarters, during our stay, with brother Joel Dillon and family.
The family consists of Bro. and Sister Dillon and their son Walter, who
became obedient to the faith during the meeting.
