downloaded a Patent Description from the BLM saying that he

This land was in the north part of Clay Township, a couple of miles south of
Spencer. The price generally was $1.25 an acre. A person would go out and
locate a piece of land he wanted, then go to the U.S. land office and enter
it. If no one else had applied earlier for that parcel, he then arranged to
pay for it. The patent was a final deed from the Federal Government, passing
all rights to the land to the new owner. The Bureau of Land Management also
has receipt books which are not online.

I found recently that my GGGGrandfather, Silas W.R. JONES was a member
of the New Union (aka Little Flock or Carolina) Church, 1844-1853. The
entries in the church log appeared to be every 4th Saturday and relate
to church business. Was this a vestry meeting? Also does anyone know
what type of early Baptists Rev Beaman led? I have heard various rather
curious terms such as "Regular, Seperate, New Lights, Hard Shell, etc".
Thanks for any information you can offer on this group.
