The Edwards and families associated with them also made the moved between
1800 and 1820. The Hadleys, Lindsey, Harveys, Dicks(DIX) and Edwards were
all Quakers or at least certain members of those surnames from Orange Co NC.
Some went to Warren Co Ohio and later some were in Clinton Co which was part
of Warren Co. I see a Dixon, John marrying a Ruth Massey Aug 15 1799 in
Orange Co NC. Dixon is a surname like Schaeffer it has many forms, Dickson.
Dixon, Dixson and there are all of those names in the late 1700, early
1800's marrige records of Orange Co NC.

My Spooner, Moon and Dixon ancestors lived in French Lick and Paoli area
of
Orange Co. In. in the 1820 to 1860 years. The Moon's and Dixon's were
thought
to be Quaker.
When my GGgrandfather John William Dixon-Dixson b. 1824 French Lick,
Orange Co. Ind. came to Kansas, he's shown to belong to the Walnut Creek
Friends
Church, Jewell Co. Ks. before 1885.
The Spooner and Moon line can be traced back across the ocean, but I'm
missing where the Carrentan, Carrington Dixon b. abt 1797 line came from,
North Carolina or Virginia.
In the 1854 letter wrote by John Dixson of New Market, NC to John b.
1824 and Nathan Dixon b. 1826 of French Lick, Orange Co. Ind., sons of
Carrentan
and Rachel Williams Dixon, he called them (Neffews). The letter also
said
that brother Carrington lived 4 miles from him (John Dixson) and he was
building a wagon for Carrington. signed John and Susanne Dixson. No date
of death
for Carrington. The letter said there was a cold or flu going around and
Carrington wasn't feeling well.
In some
rootsweb.com research, its shows there were two brothers John
Dixon and Simon Dixon, sons of John Dixon and Rebecca Johnson. In a
1830-40
census Orange Co. In, it shows Simon Dixon lived next to Carrentan Dixon.
John Dixson was married three times. The second wife, Rebecca Johnson
died abt 1798 (Poss child birth). John Dixon and Ruth Dix married after
Aug
1799 in NC and moved to Orange Co. Ind. in 1815. No mention of
Carrington,
Carrentan Dixon in this family of Dixon-Dixson
I suspect the Williams family were Quakers and Dixon family were
Christians. Rachel Williams Dixon denounced her marriage out-side the
church in
1823. Orange Co. Indiana website.
