My ancestor: Carnton, Carrentan, or Carrington Dixon showed up in the 1820
State Enumeration of Orange County and 1830, 1840 census but I haven't
found him before that date anywhere. I found his name in
mytrees.com as
Carrington Dixon b. 1797. It shows Aaron Dixon, Carnton Dixon, John Dixon, John
Dixon and Simon Dixon in the 1820 State Enumeration.
When John Dixon and Ruth Dix married 1799 and moved from North
Carolina in 1815, they came to Orange Co. Ind. with all his children by
Rebecca Johnson.
Is this family in the Early Quaker Settlers of Orange Co. Ind?
In a 1854 letter from John Dixson of Randolph Co. North Carolina
to John and Nathan Dixon of French Lick, Orange Co. Indiana, he called them
neffews and wrote that brother Carrington was living near him. Carrington
is John and Nathan's father.
If this John Dixson is John Dixon and Rebecca Johnson son along
with Simon Dixon, was there a son born just before Rebecca died in 1798?
