Cecilia brings up a very interesting point. After researching my Agan lines
I've noticed how many Orange County folks traveled to the Marion and Monroe
Counties, Iowa area. The surnames include the Agans, Mays, Bingamans,
Crandalls, Harneds, Hollidays, Piersons, Vandeevers, and from Cecelia the
Lockes and Pullen families.
Does anyone else on our list have family members that made the same trek
west to Iowa? The lure of inexpensive, very farmable land just must have
been too much for our ancestors.

Subject: Introduction
Hello: My name is Cecelia Mesecher. I descend from the Thomas Locke
family of Orleand Twp. Orange Co. James and Thomas, sons of Thomas
Locke and Polly Pullen, came to Iowa in 1849. Son Thomas is my line.
They settled in Marion County, Iowa. Isabelle Locke Holliday daughter
of son Thomas raised my father, her grandson, after the death of his
parents. The surnames of Agan and Bingaman are very familiar when
recalling stories told by my father.
