Hi,
My name is Selma. I have been interested in genealogy for about 30 yrs now.
I live in Wisconsin and am a homemaker. I have done the easy part on my
history
and now have to really dig into the records to find the more difficult
ones, two of
which are families from Ky who moved into Orange Co. Ind abt 1815. Both of
them are
BAKER families and very difficult to track down.
Frederick and Elizabeth BAKER lived in NE twp. Frederick b. abt 1768
(tradition says on the sea?)
the census for Orange co. in 1850 says Va. He md Elizabeth about 1793
probably in Ky. They
lived in Green Co. Ky in 1810 and supposedly all their children were born
in that county, but I can't find them on the 1800 census. Their children
were : Elizabeth, John, Sarah, Mary, Margaret, William, & Nancy. I have no
information on Frederick's parents and siblings nor his wife's maiden name.
Elizabeth (my line) b. 1793 md William BAKER b. 1793 in Ky. I have no
information on William's
family. Wm & Elizabeth moved on into Illinois and became the founders of
Freeport in Stephenson Co. Illinois. I don't know if any of the two
families moved with them. It seems that Elizabeth's siblings staid
in Indiana. John md Anna IRVINE, Sarah md Levi GIFFORD, Mary md James R
FIPPS/PHIPPS,
Margaret md 1st Ambrose SHIPP & 2nd Jefferson BAKER (I don't know his
relationship to Fred or Wm
or if he is from a 3rd BAKER family), William md Harriet COWHERD & 2nd
Eliza SPEER,
and Nancy md Allen FITZGERALD.
Am willing to exchange information,
thanks,
Selma
