In this same book "Thomas Thompson & Ann Finney of Col. Penn & N. Carolina.
It references the will of Robert Patton. (d. 1755, Sadsbury Twsp., Chester
Co., Penn) named his wife and the following children in his will of 15 May
1755: Sarah, Rebecca, Jean, Elizabeth, John, Andrew, Robert, Thomas, and
Joseph. Executors: John Woods of Hanover Twp. and James Blelock of E.
Fallowfield Twp. (Chester Co., Penn. WB 4:9-10).
I am related to John Patton and Rebecca _______ who lived in Orange Cty, NC.
John had a will probated in 1799 in Orange Cty, IN, with the following details
noted:
Sons: William, John
Daughters: Jean, Mary
Executor: Matthew Patton
Witnesses: _______ McDaniel, James Clendennin
William his son later migrated to Orange Cty, IN, and raised a large family
there (d 1840s). He married Patsy Overman in Orange Cty, NC, in 1802. A
large family of Overmans are also present in both counties. (Both William and
Patsy are my relation.)
I now know based on the info shown over the last week that this John who died
in 1799 is not the same John mentioned as Andrew Patton's son in his 1790
will. This leaves me with 2 options:
1.The 1799 John is Andrew's BROTHER mentioned in Robert Patton's will in PN in
1755.
2. The 1799 John is the son of Alexander Patton who d intestate in 1784 Orange
Cty. A John Patton is listed as administrator of his estate.
I would appreciate ideas from anyone that can help me straighten out this
puzzle. Also, I don't know who Matthew Patton is listed here. Thanks all.
