Still searching for a connection between the Orange county Chisham's and my gr gr
grandfather.
His name was Thomas Dinwiddie Chisham. He was born in Kentucky in 1812, I believe in
Jessamine county. In 1834, in Franklin county, Kentucky he married Julia Ann Stribling.
In a bio of Julia's it mentions that Thomas was from Indiana at the time of the
marriage. We also know from her bio, that Thomas's maternal grandfather was Thomas
Dinwiddie. There were Chisham's that went from Kentucky to Indiana that possibly were
related to Thomas.
I still have not been able to find out what his parents names were. I only know that
his mother was a Dinwiddie.
After Thomas married, they moved to Jackson county, Missouri. There is a church record
there that lists Thomas and Julia as members, as well as a Sarah Chisham. I noticed in the
1860 Orange county census, there is a Sarah listed, but whether or not it is the same one
I have no idea.
Thomas left to search for gold in the spring of 1853, and never returned. Is it
possible that if this Sarah is somehow tied to him, she and her husband James could have
moved to Indiana? Anything is possible I reckon. :O)
An interesting note too, is that the name James is extremely common in my Chisham
family. Milton shows up quite often too. I'm just kind of grasping at straws at this
point, but can't help but feel that somewhere, somehow, there is a connection to the
Indiana Chisham's.
On a side note, a Hadley Head signed Thomas and Julia's marriage bond, not
Thomas's father, whatever his name was. Just another mystery.
Thanks a bunch,
Deah
