We are researching my husbands great grandfather. Family history says that
he was born in 1844 in Orange County, Indiana. We know his mothers first name
was Matilda, but don't know his fathers first name. We do know that his
mother remarried Jonah Ruberson/Roberson/Rubison in Crawford County, Indiana in
1848. Some family members think that Matilda's maiden name might have been
Blevins.
In checking the family history site I did find where a Matilda Blevins had
married a Georg (no e) in 1840 in Crawford County. Then, we have found where
both a Matilda Snider and Matilda Penrod had married Jonah in 1848. Some family
members think her maiden name was Penrod. Are all of these Matilda's the
same person. Was her maiden name Blevins and she married a Snider and then a
Penrod? Was she first a Penrod and then married a Snider? Does anyone have
information they could share with us that might lead some light on this. We did
find on the 1880 census that Matilda Roberson, was living in the home of George
Washing Snider, but the family had moved to Macon County, Missouri. George
stated that his father was born in NC, and Matilda stated that her father was
born in VA and her mother in KY.
