First of all I'd like to thank everyone for the thunderous response to my
question about town and community locations. So many responses came in and I
now have a good idea where almost every place is. Thanks folks.
I ran across an article in the Spring Valley Herald, Thursday, Jan 29, 1925,
that I thought was interesting, especially after just getting done balancing
my bank account.

"The average Orange County farmer's income in 1924 was $793 according to
the Blue Valley Creamery Institute. This estimate, based on the most
accurate available data, covers the yield, acreage and animal production on
farms in this section of Indiana. This is the best indication yet that the
state's agriculture is again headed toward prosperity, says the Institute.
1919, one of the two peak years in the purchasing power of the American
farmer, witnessed an average incline of $1,834 per farm in the state. The
average incline per Indiana farm for the past season's production will run
up to approximately $1,450.
An outstanding fact brought out in the studies of last year's records is
the steady rise in the per acre value of the leading U.S. crops. The value
per acre for the country as a whole in 1921 was only $14.45. This jumped to
$21.52 in 1923 and in 1924 it amounted to practically $24.00 per acre.
Improving farming methods advocated by the state college of agriculture was
a big factor in making this gain and in the more efficient production per
cow, sow and hen animal units lies further increases in the net profits of
Indiana farms, concludes the institute."
