I would so appreciate any help on following names I am searching:
TARTON OR TARTEN SMITH: On 1830 Census, PAGE 36, AGE 20-30
Probably married to a
Rebecca and he dies
about 5 years later in
Orange Co. leaving 3 small
boy, JOHN, JACOB AND CYRUS
SMITH.
( I come through JACOB C.
SMITH , 2nd son)
TEMPERENCE (tempy) SMITH Living by Tarton in l830 with small children
She does show up marrying
Ebenezer Barnum
in l83l.
Need to know which Smith family they belong. I believe TARTON is probably
a family name as it is unusual. He must be BURIED IN ORANGE CO ABOUT 1835.
IS THERE A CEMETERY INDEX ANYWHERE? DOES ANYONE KNOW IF
GUARDIAN PAPERS WOULD BE IN ORDER IN THIS SITUATION AND IF THEY ARE AVAILABLE
FOR ORANGE COUNTY. THE CENSUS INFO ONLINE IS
WONDERFUL!!!!
TARTON'S WIFE, REBECCA COLLINS, NEXT MARRIES A GEO CROMER, BUT I BELIEVE SHE
WAS THE DAUGHTER OF JAMES COLLINS AND POSSIBLY AN ELIZABETH COLLINS. ALL
THESE SHOW UP LATER IN HARRISON COUNTY.
( Mid' l800 time frame)
Someone wrote me about Jacob Smith Bible but email address does not work.
HOPEFULLY, THESE MIGHT BE IN YOUR LINE. THANKS SO MUCH, DOTTIE
