I was this and thought it was rather odd. He apparently knew the culprit

LOOK OUT FOR KIDNAPPERS
The public is hereby notified that on the 9th instant, a man by the name of
William Henderson, absconded from this county, with the wife of a colored
man. Said Henderson is about 5 feet 10 inches high, stout made and the
middle finger of the left hand is off at the middle joint, and the one next
and the little finder have both been cut also, and one of them is stiff.
When they left here, they took two horses and two men's saddles. One was a
gray horse, blind of the right eye and hip shot, and the other a bay mare
with a long tail.. The woman is about one eighth Negro blood, and a good
looking woman, and may perhaps, among strangers, pass for a white woman. And
it may be that there will be an effort to sell said woman into slavery.
Note: Editors throughout the Union who may wish to do the public justice,
will confer a favor on the public and the husband of said woman by giving
this an insertion in their papers.
