Hi,
I recently discovered my ancestors came from Orange County and would like to correspond
with anyone that is related or has any information on them. My GGGGGF, Humphrey Smith
arrived in Stampers Creek Township in September of 1817, coming from Woodford County,
Kentucky. He had 3 sons, Allen, from his first wife, and later, Jarvis & Caleb Smith
with his second wife Abigail (maiden name unknown). Humphrey died on June 24, 1839 and is
buried in the Stampers Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Jarvis Smith, my GGGGF, was born about 1809 according to one source, and married a Mary or
Polly (maiden name unknown) about 1827, and they had 7 children: Isiah Allen, b. abt
1827; David H., b Mar 4, 1829; Salomon, b abt 1831; Abigail, b abt 1834; William B, b abt
1839, Joseph A, b abt 1842. and Mary L, b abt 1845. I suspect Polly Smith's maiden
name might be "Murray" as a Thomas Murray, age 73 appears in the 1850 Census
living in the Jarvis Smith household. Jarvis and his family continued to live in Stampers
Creek Township until about 1853, when they moved to Andrew County, Missouri.
Caleb Smith, my GGG Uncle, was born on February 20, 1810 and married Susan Hampton on
March 3, 1836 in Orange County. Caleb died on August 11, 1845 and is buried in the
Stampers Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Allen Smith, my other GGG Uncle, was born abt 1785 in North Carolina, and settled up the
North West Township of Orange County.
I would like to hear from anyone that is related or has any information on my ancestors. I

Thank you,
Peter D. Smith
