Hello List members:
1830 and 1840 INDIANA ORANGE CO CENSUS LOOK UPS
Can anyone do a look up in those census, if any are around?
I need a look up for
DANIEL DAYHUFF and wife, RACHEL SMITH DAYHUFF
Paoli, ORANGE co, IN
FYI, Trivia for Paoli-ites:
Daniel established the DAYHUFF HOTEL and ran it until his death in
1863.
Three of his daughters, Hannah, Ellen and Etta kept it til 1920, it was
sold by , Miss Ellen Dayhuff , the last surviving daughter sold it.
It stood at corner of North Gospel and East Campbell Streets,
PAOLI.until it was razed 1937 to build the Paoli Post Office. The
DAYHUFF was the site of the first Telegraph office in Paoli.
(This according to an old newspaper article)

DANIEL DAYHUFF m RACHEL SMITH . in 15 Aug 1822 in Paoli JP John
Scanland.,
I know of son ANDREW b 1827-1884 Kokomo, Howard Co, IN
--------------------------------------------------
I am looking for census listing of his 3 daughters mentioned in his
1863 will, as being married. They are not the children of his 2
wife,Mary Lindley Chambers, my ancestress. They are probably Rachel 's
children:
ANNA ( ba 1823 ?) married in 1842 William Burke
MARTHA ( ba 1826?) married in 1847 William Worrell
MARIAH ( ba 1839 ?) married in 1859 David Hudelson
Rachel Smith Dayhuff died 1839 --- when Mariah was born? .
I think those girls who are mentioned in his will of 1863, are Rachel's
daughters. I am in contact with ANDREW's desc and they know nothing
about others.

Daniel Dayhuff married again Oct 1842 MARY LINDLEY CHAMBERS.

I have the 1850 census which lists
Daniel and w2 MARY LINDLEY CHAMBERS ,
my grandfather SAMUEL ( her son)
her 5 daughters.---a Rachel, 4 y, who must've died..
and a servant girl
. In 1860 census, Rachel isn't mentioned
Appreciate any help,
Alicia (Dayhuff) in NE Florida
