Still searching for information about my gg grandfather, Thomas D. Chisham. He was born
in Jessamine County, Kentucky in 1812. His father, whoever he was, was born in Virginia.
In 1834 he married Julia Ann Stribling. According to information in Julia's bio, it
said at the time she married him, he was from Indiana. The marriage however took place in
Kentucky.
I'm wondering if he traveled to Indiana with family for a while, then apparently
returned to Kentucky at some point.
I don't know who Thomas's parents were, but in Julia's bio, it says that
his maternal grandfather was Thomas Dinwiddie.
I have found on a census of Orange County, a number of Chishams and believe Thomas was
likely related to some of these in some way. And the pattern of travel with these Chishams
appears to be the same as what we've been able to track Thomas so far.
Also in Orange county were a number of Childers. One of Thomas's daughters married
a Childers, whose father's name was Richard Childers. Another reason I believe that
Thomas quite possibly was tied to the Orange County Chishams.
Thomas and Julia later moved to Jackson County, Missouri. He left there in the spring
of 1853 to search for gold in California, and never returned.
I'm hoping that someone out there may have a clue that would help me identify
Thomas's family, and any possible tie-ins with the Orange County Chishams.
Thanks a bunch,
Deah
