There are marriage records for many counties starting in 1818, then more
on marriages from 1850, in Orange Co, birth records started in 1880, and
some death records from 1906 on, then starting about 1880 in some cases
the parents of each spouse were recorded. Now in the 1930's while we had
the WPA, (Works Project Administration) many countied of Indiana records
were compiled and are available in the Indiana State Library, genealogy
division, and at the Allen Co, IN (Ft Wayne) Library. Not all counties
in Indiana carried out this project, but they did in Orange Co. The
marriage records up to 1940 are available in these WPA books. I have
some of these files I've downloaded. After 1906 all birth, marriage and
deaths were recorded by the state too. In Indianapolis there are city,
county, and state records for all events. If one file is illegible then
try another source. Then in Orange Co the DAR did many records in the
1930's, containing cemetery records, which have been updated now, this
consists of 17 volumes now in the Indiana State Library. The last volume
is descendants of the Cornwell family in Orange Co. Hope this helps.
Marriages from 1818 to 1850 are available on the Indiana state page.
