No, no DIXONs that I know of. Furthermore, I am a counterfeit WILLIAMS.
My father's father, John Roley WILLIAMS, was orphaned at age 5. He was
"taken in" (have not found adoption record) by uncle by marriage Paul
WILLIAMS and used that family name. Roley was born in Hillsboro, KS in
1884. Paul WILLIAMS shows in 1900 Census in St. Elmo, IL. His wife was
named Ida. Maiden Name unknown. Roley's mother was her sister, Mary. Can
anyone supply a missing link?

Basically, what I am looking for is Carrington Dixon's parents. What I have
found, leads me to believe that the Williams were in the Quaker Church and
Rachel Williams married out of the church to Carrington Dixon. The Carrington
name has been spelled several different ways: Carinton, Carentan, Charentan,
Carnton, Karentan, etc. I found it once in mytrees.com but couldn't find who
posted it. In a 1854 letter from John Dixon of New Market, Va. to brothers,
John and Nathan Dixon of French Lick, Orange Co. Indiana, he called them (
Neffus ) and talked about Carrington Dixon as if he was a brother. I am waiting
for my sister to unpack after moving to another home because she has the
letter and I want to read it again.
I have found that we need to read old letters from our families
again. They hold key answers to some of our missing dates and people. One letter
of my ancestors, told when and where a GGgrandfather died. I had read the
letter several times before but didn't see it.
Would the Quaker Church in Paoli, In. have minutes of meeting and
membership records of families? In Jewell Co. Kansas, minutes of the Walnut
Creek Friends Church show the parents of John William Dixon were Carrington and
Rachel (Williams) Dixon of Orange Co. Indiana.
My Figgins line also were Quakers and went to the Oak Creek Friends
Church in Jewell Co. Ks. which was less than five miles from the Walnut Creek
Church.
I wasn't raised in the Friends Church but my father was and now I am
looking for answers to a lot of questions. Billy
Does anyone have any information on John A. Wilson and Mary F. C. Halbert? They married in Orange County in 1875 and later moved to Mitchell County, KS. Children from census records are:
Nathaniel E. born 1876
Silas C. born 1885 (twin)
Seth F. born 1885 (twin)
May or Mary E. born 1892
I'm trying to determine if this is John A. J. Wilson, son of George Wilson and America Black. John was born about 1850.

Hi Myron,
Your Williams surname interests me. In my Dixon line, Carrington Dixon
m. Rachel Williams and that Williams line is easy to trace back to N.C. Have
you found any Dixon in your line? Billy
Hi Jason,
I'm going to check the spelling of Paola or i, Ks. I've probable
been spelling it wrong for some time. Thanks for getting me on the right track.
Billy
Billy:
In PA, IN, GA, OK, WI, and CO it is Paoli. But in KS they spell it Paola.
How do they pronounce it? In PA & IN it is Pay-O-lee.

Hi IMORANGE,
Looking for info about Carrington Dixon, Rachel Williams and son
John William Dixon and wife, Ruth Dishon. Ruth died 1860 in Paola, Ind.
Carrington and Rachel were married 1822 in Paola, Orange Co. Ind. Census for 1830
and 1840 show they were there. In the 1850 census, only Rachel Dixon and
children were there. Haven't found Carrington Dixon gravesite or date of death.
Rachel Dixon was a member of the Friends Church and there may be
some info in the church about her denouncing her marriage outside the church. I
found it once but lost it. Billy
