Hello
Do you have a mesuem? If so does it have a web site? I am searching for the marriage of Joel Foster sr. and Joel Foster the son. I think Joel the first was married about 3 or 4 times. and The son only once. Family tree maker does not have all the marriages as I found a couple they do not have. Some of the meusems have very good records of this type. for the marriages and cemeteries.
I am thanking you in advance for any help you may offer. Mary Lou
Kingfisher, Ok
Carlin,
Which Wininger line do you descend? I descend from John Wininger Jr. and
Piety Hopper thru their son Thomas L. who married Ollie Wilson. John Jr.
was the son of John Wininger and Ellen ??? Thomas had a brother William
Kindred and John who was born just before John Jr. died. Piety went on to
marry Samuel Jones and Solomon Williams.
Ollie Wilson Wininger's mother was also a Wininger. Her name was Lucinda
and her parents were Stephen K. Wininger and Mary Allen Lashbrook. Lucinda
first married Abram Scarlett and her second marriage was to George Wilson.
Let me know if there is a connection.

Thanks, Tom. Donald was my mom's first cousin. She was Betty Boss
Armstrong, daughter of Grace Wininger Boss. Raymond "Babe" Wininger was
Grace's brother. Grace and "Babe" were the children of Thomas Wininger and
Ollie Wilson.
I am interested in corresponding with any descendants of Raymond "Babe" and
Irene McBride Wininger.

Spring Valley Herald - July 27, 1944
Paratrooper is Killed in D-Day Drop
First local fatality of D-Day was Donald Wininger, 20, paratrooper, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Wininger. Official notification from the War Department
that Pfc. Wininger killed in action June 6 arrived in Paoli Thursday noon.
PFC Wininger was graduated from Paoli High School in 1942 and entered
service the following fall. For several months he was stationed at Camp
Mackall, N. C., surviving as company clerk. His last visit home was in
November. He had been in England for several months and his last message
home was dated June 3rd.
Surviving with the parents are eight brothers and sisters. Darrel of the U.
S. Navy, stationed at Washing, D. C., Pvt. Gene Wininger of the Army Air
Force, Sioux Falls, S. D., Mrs. Chester Harrington, New York, Mrs. Dale
Conrad, French Lick, Mrs. Wilma Harris, Austin, and Francis, Melvin and
Patsy at home.

>Is this 175th Anniversary Commemorative Edition a book?
>If so, what is the price of the book?
Yes, and I'm not sure what the current price is. It's available from the
Turner Publishing Company. Their website is at:
http://www.turnerpublishingco.com/
Follow the links under Special - County History
You'll have to call their toll free number and order directly from them. The
book was compiled from information provided by the Paoli Chamber of
Commerce, The Orange County Historical Society and the Orange County
Genealogical Society.
It's full of information, family histories and photos of the county. I've
had it on my bookshelf for several years and enjoyed it quite a bit.

Do you know your fifth cousin? Genealogist have found it rare for fifth
cousins to have a personal acquaintance with each other.
That observation may often be an exception in Orange County, due to many
descendants of the county's original settlers having not left the county, or
to have returned.
Another reason is that early in the county's settlement means of travel was,
of course, very limited. This resulted in marriage commonly occurring
between individuals in the immediate area , with possibility of some
relationship already in existence. However a relationship closer than second
cousin usually was not acceptable. Marriage between second cousins does mean
somewhat of a short cut to fifth cousin relationship, with their great
grandchildren being at that level.
Beyond fifth cousins, there are seventh generation ( and now 8th )
descendants of Orange County settlers who are current residents of the
county.

Most of us have many generations of family from Orange County and our
databases prove the above statement. Everytime I see a new roll call letter
it reminds me of that fact, We all seem to share so many families in
common,. it's like we're one huge clan.
